endergx
hi there, i'm trying to find the perfect ram for my rampage iv extreme/intel 3930k system. i don't want to exceed 1.5v, but i would like the highest clock speed i can get within the dominator platinum series. i found this set (CMD32GX3M4A2133C9): http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008RAS8AO/?tag=pcpapi-20 it is listed on amazon and a handful of other sites as 1.5v, but on the corsair site and newegg, it is 1.65v. does anyone have any insight or recommendations? peanutz94
Thats corret. SPD or 1333mhz would be 1.5v but the overclocked settings for 2133mhz would be 1.65v. http://www.corsair.com/en/dominator-platinum-with-corsair-link-connector-1-5v-32-gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmd32gx3m4a2133c9.html If your trying to stay with 1.5v the Vengeance series would be better. They run at the overclocked settings of 2133mhz at 1.5v.
endergx
thanks! should i just go for the dominator platinum 32gb kit at 1600mhz 1.5v with tighter timings? would that be a better fit? i know the 3930k is supposed to only support ddr3 1600 at 1.5v. i want performance, but i'm not sure i want to put my cpu at risk. JR23
The fastest 1.5v Platinum kit is CMD16GX3M4A2133C9, the fastest 1.5v 32GB kit is CMD32GX3M4A1866C10 (note looser timed and lower speed) Afraid I can't help you choose but platinum is beautiful
endergx
would a 1600mhz 1.5v kit have any room for overclocking? would it be better to go for higher base clock speed or tighter timings? thank you guys for the help!
peanutz94
would a 1600mhz 1.5v kit have any room for overclocking? There is no way to tell without physically trying it. All Corsair can guarantee is the rated speed of the kit. I would go for a kit with a higher base clock speed .
