PeterMac
I have question do you plan to upgrade improve your great Obsidian 650D in near future ? Would be great to see new improved version of this case, specially should be replacment in front intake 200mm fan on two 140mm dual fans. You should also remove one 5,25'', three is enough for almost everyone, this will be improve CPU cooling. I wish to see something like this http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/811/650de.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/811/650de.png/
wytnyt
having 4 5.25 bays was specifically the reason i bought this case one for the cd-rom and the other 3 houses a 4 hard drive hot swap. these size bays are versatile for use.
TBrandes
I've got to disagree too. Loosing one of the 5.25 bays would be a big mistake!
PeterMac
For HDD you have cages not 5,25'' bays. What is more important for you - better cooling or one more 5,25 bay ? Three 5,25'' is really enough for most people in midi tower case, some modern cages have only two 5,25'' - see Fractal Define R4. Even bigger cases for example like Antec P280 have three 5,25'' bays. Why so many people put additional 120mm fan in three 5,25'' bays in this case to improve cooling. In front this case should be 2x140mm, this will be ideal solution for better airflow. Also they shoud improved redesign front USB ports to fit wide USB pendrives for example Mach Xtreme FX, Patriot Magnum and many more. Firewire and USB 2.0 should be removed from there to leave more room for seperate USB 3.0 ports, ports should be flip to horizonal position. Administrators Technobeard Posted February 24, 2013 Administrators Share Posted February 24, 2013 I'm sorry but we cannot comment on anything other than current products. For a large amount of HDDs I'd go with a NAS setup, whether it be something like FreeNAS, or something like a Synology or QNAP product.
PeterMac
No problem :) but I have little hope that you working/thinking of new improved version of this case. With some small tweaks this case can be only better. Would be perfect  http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/192/corsairobsidian650dtest.jpg
wytnyt
it all comes down to what each user likes but to implement a design change, the interest must financially justify the design change.
PeterMac
Still nothing :(: Corsair please give us new improved version of this case with dual front 140mm intake fans. You good know you should improve this case after two years on market, it's time :) With dual 140mm fans this case will have a lot of better cooling performance, fans will be seat also higher = better airflow for motherboard, cpu, ram etc.

peanutz94
PeterMac, even if there is/was a plan for a revision or just another case to take the 650's place, they wont say anything until it is released.
thenosbod
Having four optical drive bays was one of the main reasons I bought the 650D case.
PeterMac
three 5,25'' bays is enough nowdays for midi tower, better less 5.25'' and better airflow from 2x140mm on front in this case, I'm sure most people would prefer this option instead 1x200mm and four 5.25''. Also would be great if Corsair will add option to install external fan or fans on bottom like in 750D, and magnetic dust filter on top.
OctavianAX5
I tend to agree with the OP about the 5.25" bays but it's clear that's contentious. I think what's really being said is that a 650D with more moddability is what the people want. Why not have our cake and eat it too? A great feature I can't rant enough about is the quick release side panel. You could drop one of the 5.25" bays but add HDD hotswap bays Air 540 style at the bottom. That having been said, you can get a 3 HDDs cage in 2 5.25" bays. In another year TLC SSDs should start dropping prices on SSDs while at the same time HDD storage prices drop, meaning higher capacity drives are easier to stack. If you really want to you can cram 12TB's worth of storage into 2 5.25" bays. I really like the 650D and 550D and I would love to see some updates to fit more water cooling solutions. I'd like a filtered fan mount at the bottom of the case to feed the GPU fresh air as well. Oh and do away with the flip down panel on the front. I like the sleeker look of the newer Obsidian cases. Not me! I have all mine filled and wish I had room for another one. 1 BD drive, 1 Dual bay Res, 1 Fan controller. I don't like external drives and really could use a second disc drive.
