brandon02852
I am planning on delidding my 3770K, lapping the IHS, as well as lapping my H100. I am concerned about the back-and-forth motion possibly loosening the connectors on the H100 and causing a leak. Can anybody help me with the safest way to lap my H100? Toasted
I think lapping the H100 block will void the warranty. If you don't mind about, Google some H100 lapping threads to see how people have done it.
brandon02852
I wouldn't be here if I had found a forum thread explaining how to do it properly. I only ask for help when I have exhausted all my resources.
Synthohol
you would be better off asking on some other enthusiast forum, you are not going to find any advice on this on the MFGs forum. it will void the warranty and is not supported. peanutz94
Try asking in the watercooling forums here http://www.overclock.net/f/ But please keep in mind, this will void your warranty so if you do end up damaging your unit there isn't anything you can do about it. IMHO it's not worth voiding a five year warranty to possibly gain 2-5C at most.
Synthohol
based on the TIM Corsair uses, any irregularities will be filled in just fine. i am strongly in favor of lapping a CPU though, i cut down several degrees by lapping the CPU as seen below. not always true. the stock heat sinks are round and sit on the cores without touching the corners. the full contact coolers can sit on the corners of the CPU and have uneven pressure on the cores. new paste will not solve this. i lap my CPUs to prevent this for better temps. here is a pic of one of my CPUs "mid lap" and you can clearly see the corners of the chip were significantly higher preventing even cooling. http://liquidninjas.com/bbs/attachment.php?attachmentid=3489&stc=1&d=1214161170
