lord_anubis
I can run the system with one stick, with 2 she will boot but will only use one stick. Running Win7 64bit(ultimate), see's both sticks in cpuz and other programs but windows only uses the one (task manager shows 8gb instead of 16)...4 sticks (32gb) = no boot. I run this memory in another system so I took out one stick to try on this system before ordering, in hind sight I should have used two. I just found the compatiblity page (http://www.corsair.com/learn_n_explore) which doesn't list my memory. Is it possible to use this memory with the Sabertooth 990fx (differnet timings, etc?). I require all 4 slots populated (32gb) as this will be a video editing/odd gaming rig. Thanks for any help getting rig up and running. system: AMD FX-8320 Asus Sabertooth 990fx G1 32gb Corsair vengeance LP cml16gx3m2a1600c10r (not working) Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit/ Mint 14 Cinnamon 64 bit Corsair H80 sp120's push/pull Corsair TX 650 Powercolor 6870x2 2x Samsung 256gb 840pro WD 650gb black
peanutz94
There is no problem using the memory at its rated timings and speed. wit that system. It sounds as if you just need to bump memory voltage as you add memory. Try setting them to 1.6v instead of 1.5v and see if that isn't any better with two sticks But if your using two sets to make up your 32 gigs , that could be the issue there. It's never recommended to use more than one set per MB because there is just no way of guaranteeing that any two random kits would be compatible with each other. lord_anubis
Just finished running memtest 4.20 on the first 3 sticks (first 2 @1.5v, 3rd at 1.6v...as per peanutz94 advice) and every one has failed on the first past at 43%. I shut the tests down after getting 18,000+ errors and counting. Now testing the 4th stick @1.65v. Probably try them in one of my i7 systems using the same ram afterwards, hopefully it's not the board. thanks
peanutz94
If they are all failing then there is some other issue. Bad MB or CPU , or it's possibility that the MB just doesn't like those sticks, but thats a very slim possibility. If this is a brand new board , i would contact ASUS about this. We see a fair amount of those Sabertooth boards having trouble wth memory.
lord_anubis
I bought this board used, see if Asus will even deal with me. I just tried a stick of CML8X3M2A1600C9W and of Samsung MV-3V4G3D/US, both also fail in the Asus but both pass in my other boards. Contacting Asus now, hopefully a beta bios will fix this. Thanks for the help
peanutz94
Yeah, if other memory is failing too then that board is bad. I really don't think a BIOS update is going to help you much. I would contact the seller and get your money back
lord_anubis
Asus is telling me the board is faulty, it's an RMA replacement so I'm not too impressed with their quality control. Good news is I got them to pay the shipping, contacted the original owner but haven't heard back from him. Going to run memtest on the cml16gx3m2a1600c10r sticks (4) in a known working board, just in case. Thanks for all your help peanutz94

You bought a used board ...how could you blame ASUS. There is no telling how the previous owner treated it.It could have been overvolted and overclocked to death. But,They were even nice enough to RMA it even though you were not the original owner. Which I'm sure if they knew, they wouldn't have. Their warranties are non transferable. They didn't seem to care or think they were doing me a favour. 5. get off your high horses, I came here for ideas not to be belittled! 6. where was I blaming Asus? edit: I blame their quality control for sending out a faulty replacement board, not their customer service. peanutz94
Dude You read way too much into that. There's no one on a high horse here and no one was belittling you.. Sorry you took it that way.
