virus86
My rig was running on a H100 for awhile before I upgraded to a H110 (I have a separate thread on my experience with the H110). My H100 has the grinding pump and I lived with it. Now that my H100 is out of work, I decided to RMA and get a replacement hoping for a H100 with no grinding pump. Corsair decided to give me a H100i...cool. I was excited to play around with the features of the H100i and Im not too happy. First, it causes longer boots where is hangs on the motherboard splash screen for a few seconds and sometimes freezes my computer. When the fans run at full speed at startup, I can hear one make some sort of electrical sound. What is up with Corsair and their fans? My H110 and now the H100i? Corsair needs to ditch their manufacture. Next, I installed the Corsair Link software and it does not seem to detect the fans. The system tab only shows: Intel CPU Temp, Intel CPU Load, Radeon Temp, and Radeon Fan. The software is completely useless. System version 2.2.0 and Corsair Hydro USB version 2.0.0. (Is that the firmware?). I tried multiple USB headers on my motherboard and they all yield the same results. If Corsair does not fix this problem, I want to get my H100 back. Toasted
Try a mini usb to type a connector and see if that works. By electrical sound do you mean a high pitched noise?

virus86
I used another cable to connect the pump to one of my front panel USB 2.0 and now it works as expected. The two fans, pump speed, pump temp, and led now show up on the Corsair Link software. Why didnt the provided cable work? Bad cable? As for the strange fan noise, its very negligible and I cant really pinpoint the source. It could be the sound of air bubbles traveling quickly in the radiator? You can submit an RMA and get a replacement. It is not uncommon to have some noise if this is a new unit, trapped air inside the unit are the usual cause. let it break in for a couple of days and see if the noise goes away. Toasted
You will only get a replacement cable. You won't be required to send your whole unit back.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 25, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 25, 2013 Just make sure when you submit your RMA request, specify that you only need the USB cable and not the whole unit.

virus86
After much testing, I found the problem. Everytime I boot my computer with the pump connected via USB: The computer will hang longer in the BIOS splash screen, boot as normal, then none of the H100i sensors will show up on Corsair Link. The only way I can get things working normally is to disconnect the pump from the USB connection and then boot my computer. When Corsair Link starts up, I then connect the pump and then all the sensors are working. It is not the cable's fault, it has to be the firmware and how it interacts via USB at boot.
