doughsthoughts
SO I just got my AX1200I. before I even hooked it up. I wanted to test " the self test" I think this is a great feature. So I don't hook up anything. Plug in power. Press the button I hear a loud click. and nada. i get nothing. no fan spin. no green light. just a click and nothing.. I hooked it up to my system anyways to see what is what. It seems to be working , but very troubling numbers in the corsair link. I have 2 7970's in a corsair 800d with 7 fans, 1 mcp655 pump, the video cards are air cooled for now. 2 CCFL inverters, 1 optical 1 ssd 1 hdd.. Running flat out everything prime 95 and graphics benchmarks together. The PSU says its not making more than 400 watts. Considering both cars are suppose to make 380 each, CPU 100 plus all the odds and ends. Either this number is very wrong or very broken. With the Self test not working.. I think the PSU has an issue making max power. Anyone have an idea, when I did a search this forum post was the closest thing. I will probably make my own thread. IM just curious what happened to the genetleman who started the thread. did you ever get your issue resolved?

I think the PSU has an issue making max power. I don't believe it's having a hard time making power...your system would be un-stable if it was. Those GPU do not use 380w unless they are maxed out. So even with Prime and furmark running both at the same time your rig isn't going to come anywhere close to using that much power. I believe it's about right on the money. Besides, a PSU doesn't just quit making MAX power which even with your specs is not going to come anywhere close to 1200w. Try using HWMonitor and run your benchmarks and watch your system voltages that way. LINK has been know to show inaccurate results sometimes. So unless your system is crashing or your getting random BSOD's then I wouldn't worry about it. But it is in no way a "dead PSU" What are the voltages being reported in the BIOS for all three rails? When you ran the self test , did you have any of the modular cables attached to the PSU at all? The only thing you should have hooked to the PSU is just he power cord otherwise it will fail. GTXJackBauer
If its showing theres power and everything is running than your PSU isn't technically "Dead". Are you using the Corsair Link software? If yes, than the software so you know is still buggy and can be giving your wrong readings. Furmark and Prime, as well as Folding@Home should almost max out the load in your system. Don't forget when in Xfire/SLI the cards will never hit max TDP, only when they are by themselves. I believe thats how it works nonetheless but will come close. I also have the AX1200i and I've never seen my fan used other than start-up because it doesn't need it. I don't even come close to 400w. I've heard George from Corsair state that the PSU fan won't turn on till about 480w+. It stays silent 40% and ramps up above that. It should though turn on to test itself on every powerup as its intended to do. No complaints here, great PSU!
