gh0st47
Hey guys , planning to get a H80 , but before i do so , i have some questions. I saw in vids that when original fans , the H80 set to High speed , it is very loud , for it is running a fan which has 2200 RPM i recall. I wanted to know , how does this whole system actually works , when you click the button on the pump , does it only controls the fan speed or the pump as well ? I worry that if it does control pump as well , if i have both fans connect to fan controller etc the pump speed won't increase resulting bad cooling efficiency. I plan to swap out the original fans for some lower RPM aftermarket ones and i think i be using a fan controller or something to control it , since im only using an i5 3550 @ 3.3 Ghz , no OC. So cooling won't be much of a problem for me i guess. Reason being im buying a water cool is because of my Vengeance RAM. If the above idea doesn't work , my second plan be, have one original fan install , have it position to pull , then i will use an aftermarket fan set to push ( original fan outer left , aftermarket inner right ). So i will have pump control the original fan for pulling configuration while i have a lower RPM aftermarket fan connect to my Mobo Chasis Fan header and set it to max RPM ( 1500 RPM ) , think that will work nicely ? If both ways does workout , plz do mention , both will work , thank you ;):
wytnyt
the pump for the h80 is fixed at @2200 rpm and doesnt get controlled.the fan speed is controlled setting the h80's cooling ability.
gh0st47
Ah i see, wao 2200 quite fast...similar to the Antec 920 i guess, but i think Antec 920 could increase it further , for it has a software control. So basically , both my ideas i mentioned will work then ? But i must monitor the temp manually for it i's no longer under the pump control right ? I mean since originally there's one connection to the CPU Fan Header for the pump , it will read the CPU Temp and increase / decrease the fan speed too right if my fans are connected to the pump. wytnyt
the h80 has 3 profile settings, each profile has its own fan speed curve that it will control here is a profile chart http://www.corsair.com/media/cms/Blog/H100_buildlog/profile_chart.jpg
gh0st47
O nice , i didn't know it will control at low to high , i was expecting it at standard speed , for Low it will run at max 1300 RPM , Medium 2000 RPM and so on.... Hmm seems like Medium be best settings , i think 2000 RPM still bearable... In that case i might able to just use the original ones then. But i do wish i can have LED on them will look better... Hard to find some matching fans to replace to use them on the pump , for i heard not all fans will work along with this pump control. Any good suggestion replacement fans ? Color , with / without LED doesn't matter. Just want a sample to compare, but i think strong chances are i might stick to original ones , money been tight too lately =/
wytnyt
the stock fans are tailored for these coolers to work best and changing fans are hit/miss on compatibility and cooling ability.
gh0st47
lol i took a look at your specs we have the same Mobo = p P8Z77-M but mine isn't pro But one more question , do you have this cooler ? Think im still able to have my top exhaust fan if i install this cooler , the rad seems big ! but from pics and all , i think it will have clearance ? I have a 400R case
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 22, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 22, 2013 But one more question , do you have this cooler ? Think im still able to have my top exhaust fan if i install this cooler , the rad seems big ! but from pics and all , i think it will have clearance ? I have a 400R case The cooler will fit fine inside the 400R. I don't think you will have any problem fitting the radiator in the rear part of the case.
