kain
Hey guys i have a 2.4 ghz p4 with 512 megs of pc 2700 ram and am looking to upgrade to a gig of pc3200 that i have already ordered Anway. I need to know if i need to tweak my bios to get them to work, or make sure they run at pc3200 speeds instead of 2700. I have heard of ppl doing it but though I was ask here. My model number of my motherboard is VS1GBKIT400, in a compaq presario (s4300nx), any help would greatly be appreciated. I have a 6800 gt in there and am hoping the ram will fix major lag issues I have playing battlefield vietnam when I first load in. Thx.
AusTerro
You will have to talk to compaq to find out if your MB can run the ram at those faster speeds. If it does not then your new ram will run at the same speed as your current ram.
Wired
Compaq Presario PC s4300nx - Product Specifications Frontside Bus speed: 800 MHz You SHOULD be able to just replace the 2700 with the 3200 and it should work fine, although I don't see why 2700 was in it in the first place. Did it come with 2700 originally?

jdracer47
I see a lot of PCs like that, Systemax does it too. Everytime I tried doing it with a Desktop with no Bios freedom it is always BSOD. The DDR400 is the RIGHT memory for the system.

minemapper
Kain, I have the same comp as you and I also need to upgrade the memory. What Corsair part number did you order, they have the following three 1GB kits listed PC3200 Part Number Speed Size Organization Package VS1GB400C3 PC3200 1024MB 128Mx64 184 DIMM VS1GBKIT400 PC3200 1024MB 2x64Mx64 2x184 DIMM VS1GBKIT400C3 PC3200 1024MB 2x64Mx64 2x184 DIMM I too have seen that several folks have had major problems upgrading the memory on this comp and would like to avoid any problems. Did you need to make any BIOS changes to get the 3200 working? Minemapper say u guys know anythin i can do to to boost my disappointing aquamark-52000 and 3dmark03-9000 scores?
