what should I do, my h100i is in transit

So, I'm a little concerned with all the posts concerning the issues w/ the h100i (and others I guess). I'll be building this system in a week (give or take) once it all arrives:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DS02

My question is once it arrives what should I do and what should I not do? :) Should I install the software that comes with? Should I just plug the fans into the motherboard? From my understanding, corsair has pulled the firmware update. Whats the best options I have now, and what are the advantages and disadvantages of my options?

btw, I went wtih the 650d case (CC650DW-1 so it should have the updated low/med/high fan switch).

Thanks for any insight on what to do once it arrives.

Install it the way the directions show along with the software first and see what happens. There is no need to worry about something that you don't know is faulty to begin with.

Most users don't have any issues at all. Remember this is a support forum so all your going to see is problems. But in the even you do run into troubles we can go from there.

And yes, TIM comes pre-applied.

Thanks for the advice! I'll take it.

BTW, I see you have a 650d.. are you using the h100i? if so, any gotya's for my install? can it fit in a push config or is my only option pull?

Curd.. now I just learned about the H110. Can I trad in my h100i for the H110? That is, if it will fit my 650d.

That you would need to take up with who ever you bought it from. But generally no. Corsair will not trade up units.

Nope, I went custom loop to be able to achieve higher overclocks. I did have an h100 at one point though.

Push/pull doesn't really matter, there really isn't much performance difference between the two , However generally you would want to bring the coolest air possible over the radiator.

I would only install the sata power and 3 pin to cpu connector so you wont get an cpu fan error and you can still monitor the rpms of the pump make sure rpms dont drop below 1900 and dont exceed 2500 if it does RMA it. attached fan to mobo to control better control anyway as corsair link software is junk and WILL BSOD your computer if usb cable is attached. too many conflicts with other programs and not being well developed. This comes from many nights of trial and error this is the best way to use h100i. if i where you i would look at a different manufacturer until they get there product right. Dont understand why they would put out such an inferior product when all there other products are awesome.hint hint

Interestingly enough I just received my H100i for my new build and it looks like my unit comes with 4-pin PWM fans out of the box. I believe these to be the new fans other folks are RMA'ing from the older kits since everything I have seen online shows it coming with 3-pin fans originally.

The rest of my build shows up tomorrow so I haven't had a chance to trying it out but I was happy to see that I seem to have the new fans.

the fans are the least of the problems. ive also got the 4 pin pwm fans with my unit. the main thing to remember is the software is junk it WILL BSOD your comp. dont hook anything up unless its the sata power and 3pin plug next to the sata adapter until they fix the software

I may start off by doing this. i've read just to many one eggs from newegg and here to move forward w/ a full install. funny how a $100ish device can keep you from running your system :) I guess I could just stick the stock intel cpu fan in if my h100i goes funky.

on my mobo i have 2 cpu fan headers i use cpu fan and cpu fan aux to control my 4 pin pwm fans according to cpu temp in the bios. i use a optfan header to to monitor my pump speed using hwinfox64 its an awesome program with very accurate temps, fans and hardware info.

i know mobos have more than one place to plug fans but only one that's specifically labeled cpu fan correct?

on your board use the cpufan header for one fan and sysfan3 for the other and use sysfan2 for the pump 3pin cable thats tied to the stat power cord.then use a program like hwinfox64 to monitor your pump speed to make sure it doesnt fail and fry your processor it should read al little under or above 2300rpm, your fans will be fine and adjust to you cputemp use a push pull config on your fan setup and your good to go.

goodness.. well, I'm going to give it a go w/ how the instructions say to install. if it bricks I'll RMA and use the stock intel cooler w/ no OCing on the CPU. It seems to be getting just as many good reviews as bad.. but again, you're suppose to take reviews w/ a grain of salt. the silent majority, and all..

i.e. :

Pros: Easy install on an AM3 Socket. Keeping my AMD Phenom II X6 1100T OCed to 4.0GHz at 23C on idle and 34 C running prime95. No problems so far.

Cons: Fans do get loud when the RPM goes up over 1900, I let mine sit at 1600 and they are fine.

Other Thoughts: I was nervous when I bought this because of all the negative reviews being posted. I haven't had any of the problems I have read about happen. The software is functioning correctly and I haven't had any pump "grinding noises".
