constant hiss

Hey support forum,

I am experiencing the almost exact same issue. The sound quality on the headset is awesome, but I cannot wear it for more than 30 minutes or so without getting headache because of the constant hiss in the left earcup.

If I mute the sound in windows, the hiss instantly dissappears.

Have tried the Corsair drives and windows drivers, with and without extension cable and on two different PCs, both running windows 7.

Are there any news on a fix in this regard?

Hello Toasted,

Thanks for your answer. I haven't got any voice or VoIP apps running. I have tried moving the mic to the back-position, and I have tried disabling it completely in windows.

However, I wouldn't expect there to be this constant noise if I had teamspeak running. Its not there on other headsets.. Is this a wireless "feature", or a driver problem?

I'm really hoping for a fix, as I'm really satisfied with the headset except for this annoyance.

Kind Regards

DKGamer, is it only in the left cup you hear this? Do you have this issue on a different system (if you can test it)?

Hey, thanks for the quick response

Yes it is only the left cup that makes the noise. It is kind of similar to the sound loudspeakers make if you fire up the volume on the amp with no music.

It is louder if I run a youtube video and hit pause for some seconds until the headset powers off.

I have tested on two different machines - one laptop and one desktop - both are running windows 7. I have tried with and without the extension cable, same result.

I don't think it's interference, as it is the same no matter where in the house I move.

I have the same issue as described, if I start up a movie there'll be this static/hissing sound until the sound actually starts playing. It also persists in games, even if there is sound there (like in games like skyrim).

If charging the headset, the noise will be there even if there is no sound, or any media program in the background.

If looking at lets say youtube, if I pause the video, or it ends... The static sound will become very loud. Allmost as if the headset attempts to replace the empty voids of no sound with an invasive hissing sound of it's own.

I got a new headset from the retailer I bought my vengeance 2000 from, and this headset seems to have the same issue. I simply cannot ignore the static sound that it gives off.

edit: the steam application seems to be a big offender in causing the white noise. Muting the application has removed some of the initial issue (constant noise)

@DK, I can do a RMA replacement for you. I find it odd you're only getting it from 1 speaker so I'd like to see if a replacement confirms the issue.

@billyh, I get it with Skype sometimes as well. Have you tried bypass mode or using just the Windows drivers to see if it helps?
