speed6
Dear all, i just puchased a Force 3 SSD to be installed on my Asus Striker II Extreme. Unfortunatly i had a lot of troubles and i just realized that my motherboard doesn't support AHCI. Did a fresh install just to be sure but my boot up takes ages and during Windows 7 64bit it locks up for around a minute and starts working again for a couple of seconds, than it lock up and keeps going in a loop. Windows and drivers/motherboard bios are all updated. Tried updating SSD firmware but software is not recognizing the drive which i beleive its becasue it beeing recognized not as Sata. Is there a way to make this drive work on such a motherboard? Thanks
Toasted
The Nvidia chipsets are known to cause issues with SSDs installed. Have you tried a different SATA data cable and port? If possible, run a ATTO benchmark and post a screenshot.
speed6
Yes i also connected the drive to the motherboard's ESata since its under another controller that has AHCI support. Still not wowrking well and unders windows 7 is showing as a SCSI drive. Tried uninstalling drivers etc... Do i have to reinstall windows under this new controiller? Also is there a SATA controller which i can buy that is very good for SSD? Thanks
Toasted
Try a PCIe card and see if that helps.

Turbonerfs101e
Can you recommend a chipset or better a card? Hi Speed6 Did you cheack for motherboard last bios? As it improve compatibility and stability Jmicron SATA3 controller should run SSD Did you check for las Firmware and driver? http://www.station-drivers.com/page/jmicron.htm I never test Jmicron my self but if Jmicron ESATA on your motherboard use a PCIE 1x then your limit to 500MB?S and you never reach that speed but around 480MB/s if it run like Marvell 9128 chipset. As PCIE 2.0 as a maximum speed ove 500MB/s par line (1X=500MB/s 2X=1000MB/s 4X=2000MB/s......) Ther some SATA3 CARD u could buy PCIER 1X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816124040 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816115072 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816104027 INterresting ting about Koutech IO-PESA239 usin a Renesas chipset it Supports TRIM commands for SSD. But as for Jmicron i never thest this Renesas chipset and ther all PCIE 1x so limit at 500MB/s PCIE 2X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816124060 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816124060 Those card should andle up to 2 SSD in raid as PCIE 2x limit is 1000MB/s PCIE 4X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816115077 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816115114 Those card sould andle up to 4 SSD as PCIE 4X limite is 2000MB/s For bether compatibility and stability ove system be sure to update to last version ove bios, firmware and driver. U could use a Highpoint 2720SGL rocketraid a PCIE 8x controller and reach a imprescive 2800MB/s. But you nead 6 SSD to get those speed!
