problem with new H60 (2013) fan noise

Hi folks,

I buy recently the new H60 on a french buying site.

I mounted the h60 in a bitphenix prodigy case, on an intel 3570k cpu and an asrock z77e-itx motherboard.

First of all i was surprised by corsair to deliver a CPU cooling system with 2 connectors (3pins for the pump and 4 pins pwm for the fan) and no molex -> 3pins adaptor or a simple "Y" !?

The problem is that i only have 2 fan connector on my motherboard and one is already use for case fan. So i must disconnect it for plug the h60

So i disconnect my case fan and test the H60. And first impression it's loud!

I change the pump with the fan connector to use the pwm motherboard function. It's better but i have loud buzzing sound coming from the motor (not the pump) even at lower PWM level (1 on a 1-9 range) ~1000RPM.

Just like the GTX 660 ti that i sell recently because of this type of buzzing sound.

The question is all the new corsair 120mm fans (grey and black) are the same or mine have a problem? h80i and h100i same problem?

Should i have to RMA my H60?

Thank you for your help.

The H80i/H100i fans are different, they are not PWM fans (first batch). Do you have the fan connected to the CPU_fan header? If yes, make sure to enable the Smart fan feature or similar type, that way the fan changes based on the CPU temp. As for the pump, connect it to a SYS_fan or PWR_fan header and make sure its getting 12v all the time.

It was exactly what i have done but now at low speed i hear a buzzing sound coming from the motor of the fan.

I have been contacted by corsair to completed an RMA. Thanks for your help i will be back when i receive a new fan (i hope).
