niksu8
Purchased New memory a week back.. CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9 Installed on a Asus Sabertooth 990FX (Found this memory in the QVL of motherboard) with AMD FX-8350. PSU- GS700 I installed Windows 7 64 bit version, and checked in on with the system properties in MY COMPUTER, it showed only 4.0 GB RAM. In the BIOS setup it shows 4028MB and the speed displayed is 1333MHz.. http://cdn.overclock.net/e/e2/e262719d_20130207_134535.jpeg http://cdn.overclock.net/1/13/13939677_20130207_134505.jpeg Wat possibly could be the reason ? any solutions ? :[pouts:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 8, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 8, 2013 Try inserting each module one at a time to see if there is an issue. If you're only seeing half the memory, there is a possibility that one of the modules is bad.
niksu8
I swapped the RAM modules with the slots.. and now its showing full 8GB memory.. but still at 1333MHz.. :(
Administrators Technobeard Posted February 9, 2013 Administrators Share Posted February 9, 2013 You'll have to set the timings and speed manually per the specs on the label. The default is 1333 MHz.
niksu8
So will this manual setting be considered as overclocking ? I'm concerned because of the fact that i wont be able to claim any warranty if in case in future something happens to my RAM sticks as by definition i would have overclocked it !! peanutz94
No it would not void your memory warranty. You would need to apply more than 2.0v to them to do so ,that is the max the memory can handle before voiding the warranty or causing damage to them, but you would fry your CPU long before you would the memory. You might still have to set the voltage a little higher than what is on the label, but it's not going to be enough to hurt the memeoy or the CPU. Administrators Technobeard Posted February 11, 2013 Administrators Share Posted February 11, 2013 Just to give an official statement: No, setting the speed / timings / voltage as per the label would NOT void the warranty. Peanutz94 is correct, you'd have to overvolt the memory to void the warranty.
