Eduardo_Mx
Greetings! I bought last December a kit of CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 (2x4 Gb) for my MOBO ASROCK P55 Extreme in order to Upgrade a pair of Corsair Value Select RAM Memory @ 1333 Mhz (2x2 Gb) After the installation of this pair of brand new modules and loading the xmp settings via the BIOS, win 8 y win 7 crashes randomly and one can read "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" while it appears the typical windows blue screen. I ran the intel burn test and my system failed this test. It suggested to check the overclocking and the cooling system. So I decided to change the frequency from 1600 to the default 1333 (XMP profile disabled), but the unstability continues. Few days ago I decided to change completely the pair of modules and put the previous back to work. Result: My PC is once again stable! So... What is going on? Any suggestions for making this brand new memory work smoothly with my MOBO? I read another threads and it seems that a manual configuration of the timings and voltage would work. Thanks in advance! First make sure the BIOS is up to date. Thats important. so if you have never updated it please do so. Then load set-up defaults and enable XMP, but manually set the DIMM voltage to 1.65v and see if that helps things And make sure QPI voltage is set to 1.35v to start with if XMP is not setting it for you. Ripshod
I have to run mine @ 1.65V to get 1600 at the rated timings. This is the tested voltage for 1600. May get away with 1.6. Just letting you know the limits. Good luck ;)
peanutz94
Good catch Ripshod, I actually meant to type 1.65v...thanks for catching my typo! :)

The BIOS is up to date from the mainpage of the manufacturer with the last update available (9/1/2010). The BIOS comes from American Megatrends. The MOBO recognizes automatically the default settings of this memory (9-9-9-24 @ 1.65 V) and appears the XMP option with two options: default and profile 1 (both are set to 9-9-9-24 1.65 v) When this happens I can not find where in the BIOS SETUP MENU one can set manually the voltage and the timing. But I activate the "Load Memory EZ OC Setting" option with the DDR3 1600 option. But... when the Value Select DIMMs are installed there is an option for timing and in the OC Tweaker submenu, but I still can not find an option for setting the voltage manually. It's worth noticing that it is the first time I'm trying to use OC settings on my PC and maybe I do not get what all these options in the OC tweaker submenu are about.
