jwilkinson
I have an 8100 Elite Small Form Factor (stock) with the following specs. CPU: i5 650 @ 3.20 GHz, 3333 Mhz Video card: ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Motherboard: PC Piketon Motherboard 531991-001 I currently have 4 X 2GB Samsung RAM at 10060 I bought XMS3 2 x 8 GB (CMX16GX3M2A1333C9) and when it gets to the windows screen it freezes up at the same spot. Things I have done: Updates BIOS Ran memtest86 with no errors Tried a pair of my buddies sticks same model except 1600 and they didn't work ether Once I put the old RAM back in the computer boots up without any issues. These sticks should work but I am starting to doubt that they do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Synthohol
the 3 pages of ram choices here are what is tested compatible for your rig. unfortunately Corsair has only certified up to 4 gig for that board. if your bios is limited you may not be able to bump up a couple different voltages that may help. also have you tried resetting the bios to defaults between ram swaps? jwilkinson
I tried to reset the BIOS and CMOS as well and then I tried to run a mem test and it failed.
peanutz94
the 3 pages of ram choices here are what is tested compatible for your rig. unfortunately Corsair has only certified up to 4 gig for that board. if your bios is limited you may not be able to bump up a couple different voltages that may help. I looked up and down and couldn't find that! Looks like your right ...16gig max for the board with a total of 4 slots. So he would be limited to 4 gigs max per slot.A 16 gig kit would work but it would have to be a 4x4 kit. It can't see or use an 8 gig module. I had to look that board up because I was unfamiliar with it. Look to be an OEM HP board. Two completely different sets of memory failing sure points towards a dead board. Does that board have a locked BIOS or do you have options to set memory voltage, timings, and so on?
jwilkinson
No, the BIOS is locked as of what I can tell. I tried looking around and googling ways to change the voltage, but I didn’t see anything in the BIOS that wouldn’t let me do so. I will look for a 4 X 4 Kit to get up to the 16 GB
ksinha
I am using Corsair 2 X 4 GB (XMS3 8GB - CMX8GBx3M2A1333C9) in slot 1 and 3 as recommended and during Windows 7 (64 bit) fresh installation my system is halted after displaying "Starting Windows" with no Windows icon... no HDD activity! This was on a GA-P55A-UD3 motherboard. I spend 3 days on this trying to resolve and gave up... it was not worth spending the time... I could earn more than I spent time on it! As a control I took a 2 X 4GB Kingston memory (1333 MHz) from another system and it worked... no problem... The strange thing is Corsair memory worked on the other system!!
