soljarag
Hello, I'm having a heck of a time with this 32GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE 1866MHZ DDR3 I have been getting blue screens, so I decided to run Memtest86+ and I got about 1000 errors on the first pass. So I tried each memory module seperate, and all of them had errors. I also tried different memory slots I then tried my friends PNY Ram (2X4GB) and Memtest 86+ ran for 24 hours without error. So I'm pretty sure the Motherboard,CPU ect is fine. I then installed the Corsair memory back in the same slots the PNY Ram was, and tried using the XMP profile in the BIOS, and that still had errors. I tried bumping up the Volts alittle, and that didnt help... So I am not sure whats going on. I have already tried 4 new Vengence ram modules, and they all had this same issue..... My powersupply is: COOLERMASTER SILENT PRO GOLD 1000W Any help would be great. Thanks
peanutz94
Have you ever updated the BIOS and what do you mean you upped the voltage a little? What are you setting? And what are you setting it to?
soljarag
Thanks for the reply. Yes, the BIOS is updated to the latest version. Memory was set to 1.5V, then I read somewhere to try to increase it alittle to improve stability, so I tried 1.575V... ran memtest, got errors, then set it back to 1.5V

Just for giggles, please try removing all of the memory, Clear the CMOS,>insert just one stick>enable XMP>manually set the voltage to 1.55v. See if it will BOOT correctly that way. If it does, try adding the remaining sticks. If you don't clear the CMOS before swapping modules it's possible for the MB to try to BOOT with the last stable config. I'm wondering if this is the case here. The thing that has me puzzled is that all your modules are throwing errors, and that would be physically impossible because each stick is physically tested on a MB before being packaged. Oh and that leads me to my last question...what is the exact part number of your 32 gig kit? Or are you by chance using two 16gig kits?
soljarag
After I re-installed the corsair memory, I selected "load optimal default settings" in the BIOS... Actually this is a "Cyberpower PC" and first I noticed Bluescreens, then I ran memtest86+ on each of the 4 sticks and got errors on each stick.. this time I got about 9 million errors... so they sent 4 new RAM sticks and they sent a 32 gig kit.... same thing happened to those, each stick had millions of errors So they had me send the entire pc back, and they replaced the motherboard. I sent them an email and said "DO NOT SHIP THE PC BACK WITHOUT TESTING IT WITH MEMTEST, THE FIRST THING IM GOING TO DO IS RUN MEMTEST" So I get the computer back, run memtest+, and 40 minutes later I start getting errors!! This time I only get like 1000 errors... but I'm still not pleased with Cyberpower... ANYWAY :) When I look on the RAM sticks, it says like 8GB X 4 32GB ... so I'm confedent its still the 32GB kit I agree with you, why do all the modules give errors??? I can see if just 1 or 2 gave errors And why does the PNY give no errors??????? I'll try your sugestion tomorow after I get home from work
soljarag
OK, I got back from work yesterday, and I still had the PNY Ram in, running Memtest+ After 50 hours and 43 passes, it had only 1 error the settings for the PNY memory are: 1.5V, 9-9-9-24 So I shut down the machine, took out the PNY ram, and reset the CMOS with the jumper. I then installed 1 Vengence ram in one of the slots that the PNY were in, and ran Memtest with just the default settings.... and started to get errors on Test #6 and #7 I then loaded the XMP profile, ran memtest again, still got errors I set the Volts to 1.55 , ran memtest again, still got errors... this time I got more errors Set the Volts to 1.515, ran memtest, still got errors... I tried 3 different sticks of Vengence (I didnt have time to do the 4th stick), and did the same thing to that, and still got errors.. the model number is: CMZ32GX3M4X1866C10 and it says "32B (4x8GB)" 1.50V ver3.24 at this point I have no idea what to do????????????? soljarag
should I reduce the speed to 1333 Mhz and use 1.25V? If I try that, will i mess it up?
peanutz94
should I reduce the speed to 1333 Mhz and use 1.25V? If I try that, will i mess it up? You could try setting them to 1333mhz but use 1.5v What they are talking about in the other thread is processor voltage at 1.25 not DIMM voltage. But with all the different settings you have tried and all the modules producing errors, i would have to say your issue is your MB and not the memory. soljarag
I would agree with you about the motherboard, but why does the PNY Ram run for 50 hours and only get 1 error..... I'm going to see what cyberpower pc says... Thanks for all your help :)
peanutz94
The fact that it produces even one error is another reason to be concerned or point towards the MB. You shouldn't receive any errors.

soljarag
Is your PNY 1866 MHz at same timing and voltage ove 1.5? Nope, the PNY's ran at 1333 Mhz and 1.5V, 9-9-9-24 and I tried the Vengeance's at that and still got errors...
peanutz94
Well, the Vengeance probably wouldn't post at those settings anyway, just because the wee not designed to. Thats why you should clear the BIOS any time you switch modules. Lets try one more thing before we say we have tried everything...Under the M.i.t. menue in the BIOS, go ahead and enable XMP then manually set the Profile DDR3 voltage to 1.55v then right underneath that set the Profile VTT voltage to 1.25v if XMP hasn't already set them for you. And then see if the MB will BOOT this time. If that fails, then I would really have to say it's back to the MB.
soljarag
Hello, I tried changing the VTT Volts, but it isnt select-able, I have tried everything to make it select-able... http://www.mclatworthy.com/RAM_xmp.jpg I have been changing the volts in this screen: http://www.mclatworthy.com/RAM_Volts.jpg So it seems like everything I try gives me errors..... So I'm going to tell Cyberpower PC ship me a brand new PC with ALL New parts... and they better test the hell out of it before they ship it!!! Thanks again for your help! peanutz94
You have to change DRAM timing selectable from auto to manual before it will let you change any of those settings or it may be instead of choosing XMP set that to manual. Then set timings, frequeny the same as XMP but use the voltages provided above.
soljarag
I tried all of that... The "DRAM timing" has 2 options.... Basic or Expert..... and the only thing either of them unlock is the "Channel Interleaving and Rank Interleaving" I also tried deselecting XMP profile..... I'll mess with it more when I get home from work
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 8, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 8, 2013 I tend to agree with PeanutZ94's assessment there seems to be some other issue since you are getting errors on the other memory at DDR1333 and still get errors on our modules even at DDR1333. I think I would see if the OEM in this case Cyber-power will check the system for you. My guess is the CPU you have may be a bit problematic and or picky with memory. But see what they have to say and or suggest. Also can you post the Lot code and part number off of the modules or take a Picture of the label and post it? soljarag
Yeah something strange is going on... I'm going to call them tomorow.... I sent it back once already, and I can't believe they sent it back still screwed up!!!!!! soljarag
Hello, So Cyberpower is having me ship back the computer AGAIN. They said they don't think this motherboard can handle 8 GB sticks.... I think this excuse is BS, since the motherboard specs say it can handle 64 GB of ram, and there are 8 slots, so 64/8= 8 GB sticks...... So hopefully they will figure out whats going on............
peanutz94
I can tell you 100% sure that MB can handle 8 gig sticks. You could even call ASUS and have them confirm it. I would anyway if I were you so you can tell Cyberpower they are full of it.
soljarag
you are NOT going to believe this.... So I ship the computer back for a second time.... And I tapped a letter inside the computer saying Gigabit has confirmed that 8 GB sticks will work.. and If I get this computer back with 8 X 4 GB sticks I'm not even going to turn it on, Its going back to Cyberpower PC.... So they call me, and said 8 GB sticks wont work.. Do you want to upgrade the motherboard to a better one that will work, for more $$$ I go totally crazy on them.. and demand to talk to a manager multiple times, and they refuse to let me talk to a manager.... Long story short... I demanded my money back, and hope CyberPower PC rots in Hell DO NOT ORDER A PC FROM CYBERPOWER PC
