FMTopFan Posted February 2, 2013 Share Posted February 2, 2013 RE: Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 modular (CP-9020059-UK) I bought the budget CX500M power supply as it was exactly what was required to be used in a dedicated Folding PC. On first connecting the SATA power cable the top of the connector cracked and along the edge and broke off resulting in the 2x SATA cable being unusable. I am an experienced system builder and I'm sure the issue is because the plastic is more fragile when comparing against my HX 850W cables. The cost of the product is irrelevant when despite my best efforts to take reasonable care it broke so easily. I could put in a RMA to get the cable replaced (probably at my own cost even though I bought it new 2 weeks ago) but I wonder if this is common on Builder Series?Since I require a single 2x and 3x SATA power cable; are there alternative cables I could buy of a higher standard that are compatible with the CX500M? No, since the unit is less than 30 days old Corsair generally would pick up the shipping. Just use the link on the left to request an RMA and when you get you number , i would suggest calling CS and let them know about this. I'm sure they will take care of it for you. Thank you for your reply :) Wasn't aware of Corsair picking up shipping and will sort out the RMA. I'm currently on holiday for a week, would they just need the cable sending back and do they pick that up from my address because I can get someone else to sort that for me? I'm sure they would send you just that cable without having to return the entire PSU and also not have to worry about any shipping costs at all.
