tastyhouse
Hi all, its me again. So I had updated the link commander to the latest firmware using corsair link software 1.2.7 then updated the software back up to 2.2.0 like the forum said. Everything was kind of running fine, except I couldn't get the two "cooling temp" devices which are flashing red to recognize themselves as the gpu node power devices. I tried setting the device to power but still no readings. Anyway my problem is that I updated the firmware on the cooling node from 1.1.12 to 1.2.5 and as soon as I did that my fans on my h100i radiator starting making this awful whining noise if they spin at any speed below max. when I was on the old firmware they ran nice and quiet. Any advice on what to do? Has anybody else had this issue with 1.2.5? Also any advice on what to do about the gpu node would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks! tastyhouse
btw - does anybody have the cooling node firmware 1.1.12? I'd really like to roll back.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 2, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 2, 2013 Do you have the fans connected to the cooling node or to the fan controller on the cooler?
tastyhouse
The fans are both connected to the cooling node. Anywhere I can roll back to 1.1.12?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 2, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 2, 2013 I am sorry but not that I am aware of I will check with Cool Guy and see what he says. But I would connect the fans to a MB Fan header for the time being.
tastyhouse
Thanks for getting back to me - I have all my cables zip tied it would be a horrible pain in the ***. I'll wait to hear back and leave them running at max for the time being, they're at least tolerable at max speed. Anybody else report similar issues? Also any input on the issue with the gpu node? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 2, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 2, 2013 What do you have connected to the Link? I suspect that either if its the GPU Node you have to tell it is the Power device or that it is something not being detected properly., But I need to know what all you have connected before I can tell what to change
tastyhouse
I have the gpu node connected to the cooling node with a 2 pin cable into the "sensor" connector on the cooling node. other than that the power connectors for the video card are pretty self explanatory. And the molex is pretty self explanatory.
tastyhouse
there is no copy of the 1.1.12 firmware file for the cooling node on hand?
Toasted
No, there isn't a firmware file for 1.1.12 on the forums.
tastyhouse
Okay update on the GPU Node not being detected issue. I checked the connector and verified that the analog connector coming out of the GPU node is plugged into a sensor input on the cooling node. Here is the weird thing - if I set that device to a "Temp" device it reads out about 111 or 112 degrees celsius (weird), but if I switch it to a power device (which it is supposed to be) the device flashes red in the software. Probably another bug?
Toasted
Have you tried installing an older version of the dashboard? Have you tried reinstalling Net. Framework 4.5 and the software?
tastyhouse
Hi Toasted, Yes I tried rolling back the dashboard software (1.2.7 i believe) and saw that it didn't recognize about half of my components. So I went back to 2.2.0 which is the lesser of two evils right now. I did not attempt reinstalling the .net framework, do you really think that will help? I installed some temperature sensors into the leads on the cooling node to make sure the leads connections on the cooling node were working correctly. They all seem to be reporting the temperature fine. Is there a firmware update for the GPU Node? I have 3 issues with the corsair link product: 1) After updating the cooling node to 1.2.5 the radiator fans make an awful whining noise at anything below "maximum" RPM. They ran perfectly fine on the 1.1.12 firmware. 2) the GPU node is not recognized as a power device, it only reports as a temperature device....so I'm not even sure what it is reporting. 3) the temperature on my Western Digital Caviar Black drive is reporting incorrectly. It is reporting a temperature that is way too high, something like 120 degreees C. I love corsair products, I really do think they are top notch quality, but it feels like corsair link was released in beta...there are so many problems with it. On the bright side, the lighting seems to work fine. no pun intended.
tastyhouse
sorry, one more thing, I noticed ram guy stated the following on another thread: They should work fine when connected to the Cooling Node on Corsair Link Commander, but you will want to update the cooling node firmware to 1.2.5 and I would go back to Software version 2.1.1. to update the firmware. I updated the firmware on cooling node when I was on 2.2.0 - do you think that had anything to do with it causing problems with my radiator fans on the h100i? Not likely, but possible.... snfo
I can only say that, with me, the h100i fans are louder with the cooling node (1.2.5), but my case fans (Obsidian 550D) are working like a charm.
tastyhouse
agreed I have the 800d and my case fans are nice and quiet. the h100i fans dont sound healthy at all.
tastyhouse
Any word on if you guys are going to get FW 1.1.12 for the cooling node uploaded?
GTXJackBauer
Any word on if you guys are going to get FW 1.1.12 for the cooling node uploaded? If I recall correctly we were told in the past many times in different threads that once you update the cooling node firmware you can't roll back at all. Hopefully there will be a firmware and software update soon.
tastyhouse
ah okay. I tried to read a bunch but I must have missed it. thanks
tastyhouse
Is there any ETA on software or firmware updates?
Reedy
Damn it, the forums just ate my post. So this is a condense retype... I'm experiencing the same issues with my H100 since upgrading to version 2 of the software - Radiator fans are randomly going upto full power. The fans are connected directly to the h100 pump/controller, which is also connected to the corsair link device. I've seen the boot process be interrupted a few times saying CPU fan failed. Never seen either of these issues since before upgrading the software I might just disconnect the H100 from the Link Commander if this continues... EDIT: Disconnected it, it does seem to ramp up to full speed, but goes down again fairly quickly..
ryry75
I am also having this issue with my corsair link. I updated the commander to the 2.06 fw using 1.2.7 software, then updated the software back to 2.2. My af140 fans, 2 top/2 side panel, start making a strange buzzing/rattling sound when dropped below maximum rpm. And I can't completely turn them off, when I select 0 rpm, they drop to about 300 rpm and start buzzing. Max is the only setting with no buzz. I haven't even tried messing with my h80 fans in fear they will do it also. They have never made this sound before - I would drop them to low rpms before with FanExpert with no problem. tastyhouse
Sorry to hear it but good to know I'm not the only one. It's definitely an issue with the link firmware/software. My fans are fine when connected to the mobo headers. I really regret "updating" the firmware on my cooling node.
ryry75
Glad I am not the only one also. Hopefully there a fix for this soon.
wytnyt
yes and ramguy posted that there was a slight delay in releasing the software that will address this issue. its a hassle having to wait but the concept and innovation of this product will be well worth the wait.
