faaaaq
I bought a CS700 not too long ago for my new build. Once everything was together, I noticed an odd chirping noise occasionally. It took me quite a while to narrow it down to the PSU. It seems when under heavy load, the fan constantly spools up and powers down, over and over again. This causes not only an extreme lack of cooling (the CPU body and the air emitted when the fan is briefly running are both nearing temperatures that are painful to the touch) but an almost constant chirping noise. It is quite loud and can be heard over loud movies and games and music with no problem. I have already submitted an RMA (RMA #5525214) request and it was accepted, but I was instructed to mail in the PSU and then wait god knows how long to get a replacement. I cannot be without my computer for any extended amount of time as I use it both for work and certification training. I am also concerned about the fact that it seems there is such a large number of the CS-series PSUs having this issue. I'm really not sure how to proceed. I am not comfortable paying to ship out a PSU that is malfunctioning just so I can be without a working computer for many days, with the risk that the replacement has the same issue. Another issue I noticed while going over my packaging to get product number and whatnot, is it states there are supposed to be three colored case inserts included, of which I was unable to locate. For that matter, I am not sure what they are. I am really unsure of how I should proceed... I am nearing the point of disregarding the RMA and just purchasing a different line PSU so I can have one that works as advertised. Any advise would be appreciated. I would be willing to make the fan run at 100% all of the time as well, as normal fan noise I can deal with, and at least then the PSU would be getting the cooling it needs. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 31, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 31, 2013 You can always call our customer service and set up an advance RMA, that way you would avoid down time for you system. In regards to the inserts, I wouldn't worry about it if you can find it. There is no way to control the fans manually, they are thermally and load controlled built in to the PSU itself.
