Seijuro808
I just received my RMA package back after I had sent Corsair back my faulty H100i. Excited to get the awesome cooling unit back into my PC I quickly opened the shipping box that contained... an H80i! haha. I didn't open or anything. But I did send an email to corsairsupport. I made this thread just in case, if Ramguy or any other Corsair rep can help me out with this. Thanks for your time. I look forward to resolving this little mix up. Seijuro808
Just an update on my RMA. I finally received my H100i replacement unit after my original H100i had its LEDs burned out. After a few days of delay of Corsair shipping my replacement unit, I had a good feeling about why it was a little late... Just opened up the retail packaging of the H100i, and low and behold; The 2 included SP120L fans are now 4 pin PWM fans! :D::D::D: I'd like to thank Corsair, after dealing with me, and this whole process. It took a while, but the communication was great, and it was a smooth transaction overall. Here's to a successful installation, and hopefully the LEDs stick around for much longer this time. And did these new fans fix the pump issue?
Seijuro808
My experience with the new unit are a bit mixed. Some information on my unit: Came with firmware 1.0.5 I installed Corsair Link ver. 2.2 Along with the stock H100i fans, I also used the fans that I had been using previously with my air cooler to produce a push/pull config. I plugged all 4 of the fans into the pump unit. It was a real pain in the *** to do, since the fan screw holes weren't the same as the Corsair fans, but I managed to get them in place with some fiddling around, and a strong determination haha. A note about the fans though, they are both PWM fans, but they have a different rating for RPM which was 800-1500RPM. First of all, right out of the box, and after initial installation, and before all software installations, I noticed the green LED was a little stronger than the red and blue LEDs. After installing Corsair Link, I corrected the colors to make the white color that I wanted. My current LED settings are set to Cycle between White, all off, Blue, all off. Playing around with the fan settings in CL, I noticed that the stock H100i fans were much louder than my fans, BUT the Corsair fans really did push an amazing amount of air through the radiator. After watching a lot of videos, and reading reviews, I decided to keep the Corsair fans at their lowest setting, or the minimum of 40% through CL. It produced the least amount of noise, but from seeing in the videos/reviews, the difference in temperatures were fairly minimal. My own fans I could crank up and were still really quiet, though. After some messing around, and using the computer a bit, and after some getting used to the sound and whatnot, I noticed that my computer was making a lot more noise than before. But I DID increase the total fan count in my case by 2. I noticed that the Corsair fans are really noisy at any setting above 45% RPM. Also, I don't know if it's coil whine, or that is just the natural sound of the fans, but they make a very noticeable sound when revving up. I can only describe it as a moped bike in the distance or a weed whacker. The higher % RPM I set it, the higher pitch the tone. Again, it could just be that, that's how the Corsair fans sound when increasing rotation. But with the fan sound aside, the pump's high pitched buzzing sound is completely gone. And I'm very happy with that. I'll pay attention to the sounds a bit more before I make any more assumptions, as I'm not fully in tune with it yet. Overall I'm excited to have this great cooling unit with me again. I only got to use it for a month before I had to start my RMA journey, and I had really missed the quieter, but much cooler performance haha. System Specs: Intel i5 2500k @4.5Ghz @1.32v Corsair H100i w/ push/pull fan config. and Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound Stress Test: Prime95 "Blend" test, all cores running at maximum load. Ambient Room Temp: 20 degrees celcius Hottest CPU Core (according to RealTempGT): 63 degrees celcius. Other cores a few degrees cooler.
