OrangeOrb
Hi, I just bought 2 packs of CMZ16GX3M2A1600C9 to use with an Intel 3770K and Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H (neither bought yet). So far so good, I think. Suddenly, an Intel 3960x LGA2011 CPU appears in the local 'buy and sell', at the right price! Questions: a) Will the 2 X CMZ16GX3M2A1600C9 be compatible with a 3960x on an Asus X79 mobo, such as the P9X79 Pro? b) Your memory 'configurator' suggests higher speed, higher cost RAM for the LGA 2011/X79 platform. Is there a noticeable, real-world effect in Adobe CS6 (Photoshop, Premiere Pro) going from 1600 to 1866? Or does one need to jump higher? Thanks! Administrators Technobeard Posted January 30, 2013 Administrators Share Posted January 30, 2013 a) We can't guarantee that mixing kits will work on any platform since we have not tested it. It may work, you'd just have to try. If you're within the return policy I'd recommend returning them and getting CMZ32GX3M4A1600C9. b) How to tune Photoshop CS6 for peak performance In short, they don't talk about the speed, just the amount of memory (more = better). OrangeOrb
Alrighty, then. Using two 16GB kits together is riskier than using one 32GB kit. I see you also have 64GB kits. Thanks for the heads up and the suggestion of kit.
