kingsaadi
Hi all, I've got the Corsair Dominator Platinum CMD16GX3M2A1866C9 (8gb x 4, Quad Channel). I understand that it supports XMP1.3 profile. But, when I load XMP profile from BIOS the system keeps restarting (not even posting to bios). I noticed the stated XMP timings in BIOS is different to the tested timings on the ram sticker. I was wondering if someone can tell me the Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary timings for XMP profile for this model of Dominator Platinum so I can input them manually in the BIOS? Really appreciate the help! peanutz94
I was wondering if someone can tell me the Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary timings for XMP profile for this model of Dominator Platinum so I can input them manually in the BIOS?They do not post or provide those because they are best left to auto so the MB can adjust them accordingly. They are no longer needed like the memory of days gone by. Set the first four and leave everything else on auto. I suspect it's more about voltage than it is timings in your case. With XMP enabled just manually set the DIMM voltage to 1.55 or even 1.6v if you have to. But iwouldn't go any higher than that with that particular kit. And as always, please make sure your BIOS is up to date. I noticed the stated XMP timings in BIOS is different to the tested timings on the ram sticker. Can you post a pic or at least let us know what your seeing?
kingsaadi
Hey thanks for the reply. Will try setting voltage to 1.55 and see what happens. All drivers and bioses up to date. Edit: Attached image link of BIOS XMP profile info page http://i45.tinypic.com/28vsjzn.jpg
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 29, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 29, 2013 Try to use the timings 9-10-9-27 instead of 9-9-9-27 built into the XMP. Let me know the results.
kingsaadi
Try to use the timings 9-10-9-27 instead of 9-9-9-27 built into the XMP. Let me know the results. 9-10-9-27 works perfectly. Does this mean something is wrong with the ram sticks because it's built in XMP doesn't work? thanks
peanutz94
It could be one of two things...Either the SPD was mis-programed or your BIOS isn't detecting it correctly. But it shouldn't have any affect on stability. As long as everything is stable it shouldn't be anything to worry about.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 30, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 30, 2013 As peanutz stated, theres nothing wrong with the modules if they're stable. It could be the BIOS or XMP but as long as they're stable @ 1866, you're good to go.
JR23
When looking at each DIMM in the Asus SPD Information tool do they all show the same 9-9-9-27 XMP profile or is it just one of your kits. Could the issue be related to mixing kits :sigh!:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 31, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 31, 2013 That is a good point and officially we can guarantee the rated speed with one set. I would suggest lowering the memory frequency to DDr1600 if you have any stability issues.
