custer
Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out and let me know if a TX 850 PS would work with a Foxconn 2ab1 mobo http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/foxconn-motherboard-2ab1-specs-12242010h37/ Its in a HP pc and it only has a 250w in it now, i want to buy a graphic card for it and run some games but impossible to do with the integrated chip, so i need to upgrade the PS first, figured its a little overkill but i really love this power supply. So, will it work ? Thank you for any help
peanutz94
I'm not 100 percent sure. It should work. But you may want to check with Foxcon to see what PSU ATX spec it uses to be sure and see if it conforms to these specs. Conforms to the latest ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 standards, and is backward compatible with the ATX12V 2.2 and ATX12V 2.01 standards If it is before ATX2.01 then no it would not work. I looked for that information both in the tech specs you posted and other searches and turned up nothing. Being an AM3 socket i would think it would. But again , I'm not 100% sure. custer
thanks for your help. i was thinking that since the corsair has a 20 + 4 that it should work, i just wouldnt need the + 4. leme ask you this, kind of a newbie question. what would happen if i installed this power supply, would there be a chance that it would fry the board if it wasnt the right one ? custer
I contacted Foxconn, they was totally no help what-so-ever. Anyway, i have all the specs and motherboard information from this PC http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02628380&cc=us&lc=en&product=5049531 going with the corsair 750 isntead of the 850, i believe the dimensions should work fine, again, i guess my concern was that, will it work with this motherboard, maybe with this info you can tell if it will work. xcept i decided to go with the TX 750 instead. would that power supply still be backward compatible with v2.01 ? peanutz94
All of Corsairs PSU's are backwards compatible to 2.01. But the product page you listed does not show what specific ATX spec that uses. So again, I'm sorry, you would have to physically try it.
