inimbrium
Hi I'm trying to install Windows XP Pro SP3 on this drive but it will not show up on the partitioning/formatting screen at the beginning of XP install. Technically, it shows up as 'unknown' and I can't select it. The drive DOES show up on the ASUS U3S6 post screen aswell as on the mobo bios, aswell as on other windows installations that I have on my HDDs. I did set it as primary drive, still with no luck. I had a Crucial C300 128GB before with the same interface card and that worked fine. The firmware version of the Force 3 is 5.02. That's how I bought it. Any advice would be most welcome. inimbrium
Thanks I will try all of those things, but it is rather strange that the Force 3 is detected by sata 3 interface card, by the motherboard, and i can even access it in an older XP installation on a HDD, yet it won't be detected during windows install so my question is the following: Are there any drivers that I could load up during the initial part of the installation when it's loading all the drivers? Strange how my old Crucial C300 128GB had no such issues..
inimbrium
Hi inimbrium Fist you should update fore 4 firmware to 5.03 The drive does not register on the firmware uppdate tool. I'm using Windows XP Pro 32bit. Could that be the reason? Or could it be because it's running through the adapter card? Did you Cheack for mother board bios update, as it improve compatibility and stability ove system? http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/P5Q_...rt_Download_17 I already have the latest bios. Did you test Force 3 on motherboard intel sata 3 controller? Change sata cable it may be defective. Cable works because, like I said the drive is accessbile in already installed OSs. Also it shows up in speedfan's SMART and tests ok. Try last version ove driver 1.2.0.1032WHQL from http://www.station-drivers.com/page/marvell.htm Done. you may have to update marvell 9123 firmware ove your ASUS U3S6. The best i have test is the 1.0.0.1701 from http://www.evga.com/support/download/default.aspx I tried, but not from EVGA since I can't find them, however they are on the previous marvell link you gave me from station-drivers.com. However, the firmware updater bat file (Go.bat) says it can't detect the adaper!? ...even though I can access the drive that's plugged into it... Hope this help Sincerly yours Any suggestions? Also, I have Revision 0 of the card. Thanks.
Turbonerfs101e
1- Good update last MB bios 2- To make SSD firmware update u have tu use AHCI mode and it about only Intel® Rapid Storage Technology that could do it. So to update SSD firmware you sould use RAID: Intel® Rapid Storage Technology that integrat to yuor mother board. 3- (Cable works because, like I said the drive is accessbile in already installed OSs. Also it shows up in speedfan's SMART and tests ok.) The cable couls still be defective. 4- last driver instal good 5- to get the 1.0.0.1701 firmware from http://www.evga.com/support/download/default.aspx Is a litle complicate but falow the step 1- mottherboar 2- Family Intel X58/ICH1r 3- EVGA X58 FTW3 4- SATA6 ISO 1.0.0.1701 5- This is a ISO to burn on a CD, it look like noting on CD but boot system from CD and They ask you if you want to continu update ove Marvell firmware. http://www.evga.com/support/download/default.aspx You could all so get lates driver and firmware for USB3 on your ASUS U3S6 At http://www.station-drivers.com/page/renesas.htm
inimbrium
You could all so get lates driver and firmware for USB3 on your ASUS U3S6 At http://www.station-drivers.com/page/renesas.htm There are two on that site. Is it: uPD720200 & uPD720200a? or uPD720201 & uPD720202? I tried googleing it and I can't find an answer.
inimbrium
I think I've figured it out. It says on the USB3 host controller chip D720200F1, so presumably it must be the "uPD720200" drivers.
inimbrium
I installed the "uPD720200" drivers. Still won't detect it. I'll try your step 2 next: "2- To make SSD firmware update u have tu use AHCI mode and it about only Intel® Rapid Storage Technology that could do it. So to update SSD firmware you sould use RAID: Intel® Rapid Storage Technology that integrat to yuor mother board."
inimbrium
I tried step 2, it detected the SSD, during the flash my computer froze, which it NEVER does, and after restart it failed to detect it. I was lucky it didn't mess up the SSD, but the only thing that worked after that was to plug the SSD into the motherboard Marvell ports (1 to 6) and then I could install XP, but again, wouldn't show up in the flashing tool. After installation I plugged it back into the U3S6 and BSODs on startup. Absolutely ridiculous. I never had ANY of these problems with the C300. I'm giving up. Life's too short for this ridiculous nonsense. Sod XP, I'll settle for the old copy on my HDD. I'll just install 7 on the SSD and forget dualboot. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 31, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 31, 2013 I would suggest using Parted Magic and secure erase the drive then add it to the system as a second drive then in Disk Manager quick format it with a 4096 allocation to align the partition in XP then delete the Partition and make sure that AHCI is enabled and do a fresh install of the O.S.
