SimonWM
My PSU is a Corsair TX850M semi-modular. Does anyone knows if its possible to use two EVGA GTX580 video cards in SLI with this PSU? I have a GTX 580 which uses 3 PCI-E power connectors two 8 pin and one 6 pin. (EVGA says not to use the 8 pin from the CPU.) So far I've used the two non modular PCI-E from the PSU and one of the available modular connectors. Which leaves me with only one PCI-E connector. As far as I can see I'm lacking the other two PCI connectors that I need for a second GTX 580 in SLI which has always been my intention with this computer. Am I missing something? peanutz94
Your either going to need to buy extra cables for the PSu or get some splitter cables to give you the correct amount of connectors you require.
SimonWM
Your either going to need to buy extra cables for the PSu or get some splitter cables to give you the correct amount of connectors you require. Is this the cable I need? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1785104&csid=_61 Also I'm getting mixed facts, some people say the TX850 is enough to run both GTX580 in SLI and other people say to get CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX1200 which costs double what I paid for the TX850 which is brand new. jlhawn
I had a 950w psu and it reset before i got too my desktop due too my 2 GTX 580's, I returned it and bought a Corsair AX1200w and have been running my 2 580's just fine for 2 years now. IMO you should get a 1000w or better.
SimonWM
So how would I connect my second GTX 580 to my TX850? I need two 8 pin PCIE and one 6 pin PCIE. I only have one modular 8 pin PCIE cable left and 1 8 pin connector and 2 6pin connectors on the PSU.
peanutz94
Already answered this in post 3 Your either going to need to buy extra cables for the PSu or get some splitter cables to give you the correct amount of connectors you require. Either extra cables or you can get either 4pin molex to 8 pin and or 6 pin adapters. Heres a couple of ideas. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/8251/cab-147/6_Pin_PCI-Express_to_Dual_PCI-Express_62pin_Y-Cable.html?tl=g2c38s427 http://www.frozencpu.com/products/7932/cab-138/Logisys_Dual_12V_Standard_4_Pin_to_12V_6_Pin_PCI-Express_Adapter_AD201.html?tl=g2c38s427 Or you can use unused sata connectors too http://www.frozencpu.com/products/8251/cab-147/6_Pin_PCI-Express_to_Dual_PCI-Express_62pin_Y-Cable.html?tl=g2c38s427
SimonWM
I think you linked to the same photo. So the molex to 6 or 8pin PCIE will work? I thought I could find a cable with one end male 6 pin that would connect directly to the PSU free output and a male 8 pin that would connect to the GTX 580. As well as another 6Pin male to 6Pin male. But I've searched the internet and cannot find those cables.
peanutz94
I think you linked to the same photo. So the molex to 6 or 8pin PCIE will work?Yes, that would work. As well as another 6Pin male to 6Pin male. But I've searched the internet and cannot find those cables. Those are proprietary cables for Corsair PSU's and you would need to source that cable from them. I'm not sure why those cables are not listed on the site , but should be available when you call CS
