RAM gone bad

Recommended Posts

apparantly I'm required to post here before requesting an RMA. I have a stick of 512mb xms3500 ram that I bought some time ago (possibly from newegg??? but I don't remember when), which has now died. I believe that the RAM has died for the following reasons:

1)Windows XP began notifying me that the virtual memory was low and it was increasing thd size of the paging file, etc., during normal use i.e. web browsing.

2) just before the system started to fail completely, it began shutting down programs spontaneously

3)When I try to boot, the system gives a siren-like alternating beep code.

4)Most significantly, my epox 8rda LCD troubleshooting post code indicates that the system boot hangs at the stage of memory initialization.

please tell me how to get a replacement asap (not to be rude, but I am in medical school, and I *need* a computer)

Thank you,

Zain A. Hakeem

Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
