Faulty AX1200i?

Hi guys, I previously had an AX1200 which works great, however, it was the noisiest part in my PC (I know it's a good PSC, but my custom built WC system is so quite that it stand out), so I decided to get an AX1200i which doesn't spin until passing 30% load. Everything was fine until the BSOD become as frequent as a pop up ads on the web. Every 10 - 15 mins, the blue screen shows up and restart my PC.

I've tried to elliminate a few possible issues:

1. It doesn't seems to do with the Corsair link dongle, disconnect or connect doesn't change frequency of BSOD

2. My CPU was moderately overclocked to 4.25Ghz before, but I've changed it back to stock speed, it made no difference on the frequency of BSOD, I don't think it's possible, but I felt that the interval between BSOD actually shortened... more like sub 10 mins while idle.

3. I've tried to disconnect and reconnect all cables, my AX1200 still works alright, but AX1200i keeps giving me blue screen.

So does these conclude that the AX1200i I had was a faulty one? Or there's major differences between AX1200 and AX1200i, there's something I could have done wrong? (I know they use different cable) Please let me know, it's driving me nuts...

Hello. Have you tried uninstalling corsair link 2.2.0?

In my case, it made a conflict with storport.sys (rapid storage enterprise drivers).

When I deinstalled, all bsod's were gone, and the pc works like a charm without the dongle and the software.

I made an rma request for usb dongle with corsair, and still waiting for reply..

Thanks mate, does it show this conflict as a warning message or something? Mine just go straight in to BSOD and restart.

Anyway, I'll uninstall the corsair link 2.2.0 when I got home, I really don't see much a value monitoring power input/output anyway.

Sometimes it says storport.sys, sometimes it bsod telling machine check exception or uncorrectable hardware error..

Mine never had warning messages, and I never checked the report on BSOD, but I think you could be right. I could overclock my 3930k to 4.7 Ghz and AX1200i doesn't have a problem handling it and I could run Prime 95 at that speed and the PC handle it well, but seems to me that being idle kills it more often. The new Intel RSTe support Trim function, and I believe it only works while being idle, so... the conflict with Corsair Link could well be issue. Nice.

Do what I said, uninstall corsair link and you will see bsod's are gone.

Regards from Spain.

EDIT: you can configure windows to no restart automatically, and see the information in bsod.

EDIT2: the corsair software is very interesting to control the power supply and configure some figures like fan, ocp... I hope Corsair solves the problem with it, making it capable of working together with intel rste and other software, without conflicts.

EDIT3: I also hope Corsair solves the problem with usb dongles (through rma or firmware update if possible). In my case, when I switch it to mainboard, this will not start unless I put power off restore to enable and deep sx to s4 and s5 (which doesn't allow me to use usb ports to charge my ipod with the pc off).

The dongle thing is certainly interesting, but from my point, the only incremental benefit is just the power efficiency read. I've got Koolance TMS-205 & expansion card to monitor and control two pumps (they also have the ability to measure tempreture in 10 spots, control 6 fans, but never used), and then the MB to controls all the fans and monitor tempretures. There's also manual control on the case for fans (never used), too many choices already.

I've had the dongle glued to my case... which is really bad, it doesn't work at the moment, yet I can't remove it easily, so I won't mind Corsair doing something about the software. :sigh!:

I guess you cannot control power supply fan (unless you open the ax1200i, losing guarantee). When I told about fan control, I was thinking of it, not the rest of fans. Also, with corsair link you can control individually the ocp protection for pciex rails..
