Bubba477
Greetings Corsair! I recently bought a new computer from a store here in Norway that is in one of your Obsidian 650D cases. I thought I had done my research and selected a sturdy case, but then I read online about the fan controller issues these cabinets seem to be having. Are these issues resolved or can my fan controller simply stop working? Does that mean all my fans will stop spinning? I only have the stock fans. The cardboard box the case came in says i have the CC650DW model, I dont know wether this is correct or not, I believe the CC650DW-1 model is the improved one? Is there some other way to see this? Would love some clarification on this issue! Best regards.
Toasted
CC650DW-1 is the one with the improved fan controller. You can buy the case and if the fan controller does die, you can request an RMA to replace it.
Bubba477
If that controller dies, all fans will stop right?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 24, 2012 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 24, 2012 But you can always connect them to the MB temporally.
Toasted
If that controller dies, all fans will stop right? Yes it will. And if it does, like RAM GUY mentioned you can run them on the MB temporarily.
Bubba477
ok, thanks for your responses, is the problem very common or rare if I may ask? ( I need a bit of reassurance here :)
Toasted
I haven't seen a lot of users reporting faulty 650D fan controllers lately. So i wouldn't say its common.
saeran
I haven't seen a lot of users reporting faulty 650D fan controllers lately. So i wouldn't say its common. My front fan is significantly loud. I've been doing some research and see that I'm not alone. http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=99742 http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=100254 http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=95966 Is there anything I can do now? I really don't have the cash to buy a new fan (seems like that can solve the problem) and I really don't want to cut the grill off the case. It seems like the 650D Fan Adaptor Kit would solve this problem (the one discussed here http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=94301). It however is no longer available on the Corsair site. Where can I get one, and does it really fix the problem (http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=101377). Hopefully someone can help. I've also sent this as a message to Corsair. Toasted
Have you tried putting rubber or plastic washers where the fan is?
saeran
Have you tried putting rubber or plastic washers where the fan is? Rubber ones are all ready there. Still noisy.
Toasted
Have you tested the fan when its not mounted on the case? it may be a fan issue.
