Ok but what is the difference between LL and XL?

Here is the LL

PC3200 DDR 1GB 400MHz Dual Channel w Platnium Heat Spreader - RETAIL PACKAGE

Details:

-Corsair Part TWINX1024-3200LLPT - Mft Lifetime Warranty

Part - MEMD32C512TDC

And the XL

-1GB Kit DDR400 XMS3200 Dual-Channel Xtra-Low Latency Memory Retail (2x CMX512-3200XL) w/Black Heat Spreader

Part - 80097-08

Also in regards to those Hard Drives What would you recommend for compatibility with all of this?

XMS3200LL would be tested at Cass 2-3-2-6 at DDR400 and

XMS3200XL would be tested at Cass 2-2-2-5 at DDR400

However, XMS3200Xl would support a wider range of settings up to DDR500 at Cass 3-3-3-8! So I would suggest XMS3200XL!

  • 2 weeks later...

I got the above system went with a Maxtor 160GB 8MB Cache Drive and it's running into that 137 GB Barrier when I format so I assume this means I need a storage controller card any recommendations as far as decent quality/reasonable prince?

The Corsair RAM I got was the TWINX 3200XLPT and it's running perfectly an almost 40 second difference in load time from my old 2700!

You should not make the boot partition bigger than 64 Gig then once you get all of the drivers and Windows updates installed you should be able to see the whole size. However the is a utility you can get from Microsoft or the driver manufacturer to enable bigger HDD size's if the latest SP2 does not solve it!

Well I got SP2 before and it was a nightmare it's retarded firewall (even when off) was blocking my online gaming.. causing crashes to the desktop.. I've heard others complain of the same issues.. so I don't really trust SP2.. I got the "Maxtor Big Drive Enabler" but it gave me some message like "This registry update is not applicable for the OS installed on this computer.. and I have XPpro.. so I am clueless! I know someone who has the same drive I think he has the SATA one tho.. and he never had a problem when he formatted.. but everytime I go to format it lists only 131 availible on Drive C with 8MB unknown.. which is the 8mb cache.. It makes no sense.

my mp3's have cracks & pops that weren’t there before so I assume it must be the onboard soundmax.. Any advice?

I would check your configuration, and by configuration, I would make sure that your HDD's have their own power dongle from the PSU and they are not sharing like with your Video Card or with each other! If that does not solve it, I would check for the latest driver and or try removing and re-installing the sound driver!
