Is my HX520W compatible with modern motherboard?

I am thinking of getting an ASUS P8Z77 with a Core 5-3570K. I am not a gamer and I will not use a discrete graphic card.

I have a 5-6 years old HX 520 PSU. Could I use it with these components?

A friend is telling me that modern boards boot much quicker and thus have higher requirement from the PSU.

It has all the necessary connectors and uses the same ATX specifications as the new board.

It should power that system just fine since you are not using a discreet GPU.

If anything, it would be the opposite! Modern boards are more energy efficient than their older counter parts. So the requirements would be less. Besides , it's the ATX specification you need to worry about and total system voltage requirements. Your should be well below the 520w it's rated for.
