USB 3.0 drives

I love Corsair USB 3.0 drives, they are fast, no questions. I am getting up to 100Mb/s according to ATTO benchmark on my Asus X54C laptop with ASMedia XHCI Controller (H/W ID - PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_1042&SUBSYS_10591043)

But they keep failing on me and there is only one reason why - that so-called "extremely durable" rubber housing is nothing more than a joke. Sorry, but it's true. I've tested this scenario enough. The housing DOES NOT PROTECT the drive from being bent... at all. And once you sit on it, you'll start getting all of those instabilities or 'cannot recognize / need to be formatted' problems.

Corsair! Is it hard to fill the housing with at least some kind of glue?

  • 3 weeks later...

Out of the four Voyager used by close family member, three were carried on a daily basis, and those three all failed within two years (one being a replacement already!).

Now this month is the 5th complete year my Corsair Survivor 4GB worked fully functional. Dropped many times, I sat on it, it has been in the washing machine, etc. etc. ; it still lives :D:

It is getting a bit small though.
