Another TX650W with weird sounds

Recommended Posts

I came home for work, and my machine was running all day. I restarted it, and began a new match with Battlefield 3. Until I didn't stop the game the PSU was in very quiet, absolutely quiet!

When I log the game off the PSU started the buzzing sound, and it was continuing what happened on the screen:

- when I scrolled on a webpage

- when I moved the sursor with arrow keys to the specified letter

- when I made anything on the computer

- when I installed a program and the process was running in the blue stripe...

... the sound was acted it out! Also what can be seen on the monitor I could hear!

It looks like the sound is "bounded" to something (the graphic card, the HDDs, the SSD, the operating system?) or to everything, I don't know?

Was I clear what did I discovered? MAybe it will help to you, my friends!!!

cheers

That sounds more like something else, have you tried any of the steps listed in this post?

Noisy PSU? Read this first!

To be more clear about what I am suggesting here:

At first I was suspecting the Noise you described may have been fan noise which we have to replace the unit to solve that.

But from what you just posted it sounds more like coil wine or a coil is buzzing may be the issue.

- I tried: C1E off in BIOS ->no change

- in safe mode (uninstalled and installed graphic card) -> no change

- I step back to catalyst 12.1 which is on the setup CD of the graphic card (Sapphire HD6950 2 GiB)

I need test the PSu in a different sysem, on the weekend I'll have more time to do this.

BTW, yes, it sounds like this:

I'll try eliminate the sound on the weekend

THX for the answer!!!

And did we replace this unit previously? If so I did not see the RMA# listed can you post that and I will have our customer service go ahead and arrange another replacement at our expense.

No, I had GS600 before what I changed to this. That made the same...

I clicked over the BIOS and I tried to find the perfect solution to silent the PSU. I didnt find the optimal settings (performance, power management, etc...) to mute sound.

After it I left an SSD and a 1 TB WD HDD - I took the 500 WD from the system out - and ran some bench: Furmark + Prime95, and the sound appeared but it was less than before! It looks like the PSU has an overload...?

I played with my config a little bit. I took a 9 mm ventilator in the face of the PSU and the whinning noise stopped!!! I could hear steps by steps it quiets... This is not normal!!! I can keep it absolutely quiet if I cool it from the outside of the PSU... (the 9 mm vent is too loud to me :))

My question is if I want loose the waranty :) how can the ventilator's power in level set lower? Is it possible?

You dont need to worry about that our customer service will take care of the shipping since you have had it less than thirty days.

I'm curious when will you get back this PSU (if ever), because of I changed it back in a shop for another... (within the 30 days, on the 30th day)

I am sorry I don't understand what you are asking?

But No (I Think) I would suggest doing the RMA directly with us so we can be sure the issue is resolved. If you have concerns about the shipping please call our customer service by phone on Monday after 7:30 AM Pacific Time and they will be able to help you with more accurate information.
