warhippy
Alot of people are having problems after running the firmware update. When I installed it a month ago, it worked great. Then, my computer crashed and I had to re-install windows.. The computer recognized the keyboard as a default keyboard and the keys worked as they should, but without any programming capabilities enabled. I decided to install the firmware and beta update earlie today. Now, the keyboard works, but the keys don't repeat if you hold the key down. What I mean is, if i press a key and hold it, using wordad as an example, the cursor should start scrolling. If it's a letter key thats pressed and held, the cursor should start scrolling, entering that letter over and over as it scrolls. My keyboard doesn't work like that now. If I press and hold the space key, the cursor moves one space and stops. If I press and hold a letter key, that letter is input once, and the cursor stops. Keyboards have a key repeater subroutine, that senses the held keypress, and after a couple seconds, starts automatically scrolling across the page. My keyboard is acting as if that key repeater is disabled now. And to clarify, I'm referring to the standard keys NOT the programmable keys. Keys that are meant to be pressed and held until aanother key is pressed, are almost unuseable, the control, alt, windows keys are examples. The space bar, backspace key, even the arrow movement keys are useable, ads long as you press and release them over and over. I hope this helped describe what is happening and maybe a clue of what to check might be malfunctioning. My bad typing isn't part of the problem, caused by the update :) . Maybe i'll just uninstal the drivers aND LET WINDOW RECOGNIZE IT AS A DEFAULT KEYBOARD AGAIN TIL A FIX IS FOUND. sorry, caps
warhippy
UPDATE: I uninstalled the firmware and drivers on both, my K90 Keyboard and M90 Mouse, restarted my computer, windows installed default drivers for both, and now they both work just like standard windows keyboard and mouse. In my humble opinion, there's nothing wrong with the K90 Keyboard, it's either in the firmware update or the beta program. Since the standard keys work just fin e with default windows drivers, and they are not programmable anyway, why would Corsair change them as the programmable keys were being configured? I'm disillusioned. I've used Corsair products since your largest XMS memory was a pair of 256M for around $300. Now your forums are filled with people having problems with your products.. That says alot about the quality of Corsair products. With Corsair's reputation, these gaming keyboards and mice should lead the industry. Instead, if I want to enter the bios, I need to use a different keyboard, because this keyboard is not recognized til windows logon starts. I don't understand what you mean by the regular keys being programmable (they're not). The key repeat is inherent with windows and you can test the repeat rate in Control Panel -> Keyboards. As for the BIOS issue, I completely understand and we're working with ASUS to figure out the issue.
