Question regarding faulty XMS2 stick

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have found that a single stick of my XMS2 RAM is faulty according to Memtest and am looking to see if you can help.

I have 2x CM2X2048-6400C5C sticks, one of which passes Memtest86 just fine, the other fails within 1% of the test with many errors.

I was looking at the RMA form and in the dropdown list I can see a part # CM2X2048-6400C5 - but not CM2X2048-6400C5C so I am concerned about selecting the right part number; I understand there may be a significant difference between the two part numbers.

Also, I am an unsure as to whether my set of RAM was bought as a pair or if they were bought individually. My PC was custom built by a small company called DinoPC and the machine as a whole is out of warranty.

According to your site RAM seems to be covered by a lifetime warranty and I was hoping this would apply to my RAM, but am unsure whether I would need to return the pair (and put my computer out of action) or just the single defective part.

Any advice appreciated!

-Dave
