HP DC 7600 AHCI Bios setting

Recommended Posts

I have an HP DC7600, Pentium 4, with SATA II onboard. XP Pro SP3

It doesn't seem to have AHCI in the bios options.

Is this a problem , what type of performance should I expect?

Is there an Intel update to enable AHCI on it's HP 82801GB/GR (ICH7) Serial ATA Storage Controller? or should I just buy a good quality PCI-e controller that does SATA III 6 Gb/s, and by pass the on board HDD controller?

Please have a look at the screenshots and let me know if anything looks bad.

Paul

Yes, did that. I just got off HP live chat... bad news

The DC 7600 has no AHCI BIOS options, even though the Intel ICH7 controller can do it.

Problem is that I just bought a cheap SATA 3 card, and was shcoked when it's performance was WORSE that the on board SATA 2... I dont get it??

Anybody know of a decent PCIe SATA 3 controller?
