Trouble POSTing after installing H80

Hi all,

In December I received an H80 as a gift. After I installed the unit, my computer started having issues POSTing at power on and reboots. I didn't have this issue when I was using a CNPS9900 air cooler that the H80 replaced. I have verified all connections multiple times as well as my BIOS settings. I can't seem to locate the reason for the multiple restarts before my computer will POST. I have checked my power supply with a Dr. Power II tester and it tested fine. While I calculate my total power usage at around 780, my 850 watt power supply should handle it. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, how did you fix it. Suggestions?

Oh, and just recently the fan control quit working which is causing one of my fans to rev up and down continually, but I'm going to try the firmware reset tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks for any help.

Check the system for leaks would be the first thing. If no leaks detected them I would check for something that may have got knocked loose, like Video card or power cable.

I have seen some specks of what looks to be oily fluid on the innermost fan next to the pump. Not a whole lot, just a few. I didn't see it anywhere else in the system. I have an RMA in process for the whole unit due to the fans revving up and down non-stop, so maybe that will take care of the POSTing issue as well. I will double check everything when I re-assemble the computer with the new unit.

This is a known issue. It's just excess oil from the fans . For what ever reason they seem to be overly lubricated. Once the excess has been slung out they will quit.

Unless you see fluid around the hoses, connections, or radiator, then it is not leaking.

I have to go with RG on this one. I would check to make sure your mounted securely on the CPU and check all your connections. Unless your CPU is heating up and shutting your system down there is no way for the cooler to produce POST problems.

Can you see what the pump is running at in your BIOS?
