Toasted
-If you haven't and don't use Hibernation you can also turn that off. Should free approx 4GB of space. CMD>powercfg -h off
D2AWinter
Yeah. I never have that on when windows 7 RC came out it would never reload the OS after hibernation. I turn off after doing a new install on any comp -but good tip did not know that used space 4GB even
D2AWinter
one othere thing is bench testing my SSD once ever week a bad thing ?
FoLmEr
Filling you SSD with data you don't really need (ie test data) on a regular basis is not recommended at all. Once your drive reaches steady-state (all blocks have been written to at least once), the performance will be a tad lower until you Secure Erase the drive again. So, yes, it's a bad thing. You bench an SSD to ensure you're getting the performance you've paid for, or for troubleshooting purposes - not because you like to see pretty numbers. D2AWinter
just a few othere things Ad-ware - ok to run once a week ? Disk Cleanup - ok to run once a week ?
FoLmEr
Of course it's ok. Use your computer as you like. Scanning for adware and cleaning up your disk are normal maintenance operations. Your drive has efficient built-in algorithms for handling normal usage (and, the examples you gave are almost only read operations which doesn't impact performance whatsoever). Your SSD can handle heavy workload too, like benchmarking, but it takes longer to recover from that sort of workload, so by benchmarking a lot you're actually doing something counterproductive - namely, slowing down your disk down needlessly. Please don't be too concerned with whether the disk will survive - it will. But don't hammer it needlessly either. Then you'll be fine.

Malign
@ D2AWinter~i was wondering if it is because of the newer sb 950 you are getting that score because i am running the 890 fx and getting worse results and was also wondering if you were running your extra hdd in raid. maybe i am getting a lower wei 7.5 because it is a 90 GB running the others in raid 0. i am running the ssd in raid mode instead of achi mode because of my 2 hdd in raid and was wondering about that may have a reason i get lower write and read scores and also lower wei scorew of 7.5 i know most say wei score means nothing due to being a ssd instead of scoring for hdd. the only thing i have not done on the tweaks was stop the restore points and was wondering if that could be a factor? D2AWinter
- i'm not sure on if that restore point is a factor or not but i would say no but again not sure - No my othere drives are just for space - if you are runing 2 HDDs in raid what are you useing the SSD for ? - try runing it in ACHI i had a 7.2 when runing in IDE i was hiting under 400 -
Malign
the 2 drives in raid are for any and all apps, and games that can be written to them where as the ssd is for operating system only and any drivers that can only be stored on main drive. quicker booting time and everything else on system disk runs alot faster with the ssd. i get twice the speed of the drives in raid. only getting 168 MB/s read and 164 MB/s write on raid drives. also dont have to worry about writting so much on the raid vrs ssd for performance wise. games are always d/ling and writting to the drive diff. map packs and such for the games i run. ill give it a try with switching it from raid to achi and see if that makes a difference. thanks for your reply. Malign
yeah, the only way i could get it into ahci mode from raid mode is to maybe do a fresh intall? other than that i had no luck getting it into ahci mode at all . i tried doing this edit here: http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94426 the first ht key was already value at 0 but the second one was at value of 3. i changed that and restarted computer to find out that the login has failed. i am actually running my user account off of my raid 0 as well. could also be a reason it wont work for me.
