CM2X2048-8500C7 It's never recomended to mix memory . Even two sets of the exact same part number and version number have a less than 50% chance of being incompatible with each other. Your best bet would be to just purchase a new 8 gig kit so you recieve a complete matched set of modules.
bigjt18
Thank you for the quick reply, I was aware of this although I've heard of some success stories, and ddr2 ram is getting quite expensive these days. Also tho my MB is not the greatest it does provide a "Flexibility Option" in the memory bios settings and was wondering just how much this may or may not help. peanutz94
No worries. And yes DDR2 modules are really expensive for sure. From what we are hearing here it isn't going to get much or any better at all . DDR2 is quickly approaching it's end of life cycle and is going to be phased out shortly . Probably as soon as DDR4 modules are on the market.
nweissma
what do you predict will be the fate of ddr2 computers after ddr2 reaches its eol? .. a horrifying thought for many
Wired
Same as the PCs with DDR1 or its predecessors. Some manufacturers will still make it and sell it for a truckload, some won't make it at all.
