nweissma
given that the sysbo allows a maximum speed of 1066MHz, what are the advantages and disadvantages of: 1333 CL9 (which will auto-downcloked to 1066) 1066 CL9 1066 CL7 and why? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 28, 2012 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 28, 2012 Basically Clock frequency and clock timings are related; the higher the clock frequency the higher the clock timings will have to be to address the memory correctly. nweissma
what is the expression of the relationship between clock frequency and timings? following your supra answer, say that a CL7 is appropriate for 1333MHz, and it would therefore follow(?) that a CL9 is appropriate for 1066MHz .. now, assume that i have a 1333MHz CL9 module, and a 1333MHz CL7 module -- are there reasons why i would choose the 1333MHz CL9 over the 1333MHz CL7? Synthohol
the lower the cas the faster btw.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 29, 2012 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 29, 2012 I would suggest using a Google search for more information but normally for example memory rated at Cas 9 at DDR1600 will be able to run at DDR1333 at Cas 8. But this does not always hold try it will depend on the specific memory IC that is used.
