milkyjoe01
I want to upgrade my RAM & i like the look of the Corsair CMSX8GX3M2A1600C9 NB Vengeance Performance 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 SO-DIMM Memory Two Module Kit. Anyone know if its compatible with my XPS 15 its stated as 1333mhz but i've read that it will work but it downclocks to 1333, if so, what timings do these kits downclock to? (Laptop is 2 weeks old.) Also, what are the advantages/disadvantages between 1.35v kits & 1.5v kits? Thanks. Unfortunately the XPS L502X isn't listed on the RAM finder so i'm having to resort to asking about various kits for compatibility.
Turbonerfs101e
hi Corsair CMSX8GX3M2A1600C9 NB Vengeance, sould worck on XPS 15. 1333MHz is native speed. All above is overclocking I don't now if your notebook could handel 1600MHz Check for bios update as it help with stability and compatibility. 1.35v Kit if fir i5\i7 2e generation and run cooler as it run with lest voltage. hope this help Sincerly yours
milkyjoe01
With this in mind have you any idea what the timings would be on the Corsair CMSX8GX3M2A1600C9 NB Vengeance if it were to run at the lower 1333mhz speed? Current timings 9-9-9-24T. So 1.35v would seem to be be the way to go but are there any disadvantages of the 1.35v kit & similarly any advantages of the higher voltage kit? Thanks for the quick response.

Turbonerfs101e
ok i ave find all the spec processeur Intel® Core™ i3-2330M (2.20GHz) processeur Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM (2.00GHz avec Turbo Boost 2.0 jusqu'à 2.90GHz) processeur Intel® Core™ i5-2450M (2.50GHz avec Turbo Boost 2.0 jusqu'à 3.10GHz) Thos tree cpu are limited at 1333MHz http://ark.intel.com/products/52219/Intel-Core-i7-2630QM-Processor-(6M-Cache-2_00-GHz) If you ave a CPU ove the serie 27xx and above it will run 1600MHz http://ark.intel.com/products/family/59136/2nd-Generation-Intel-Core-i7-Processors/mobile But yours is a 26xx serie and it limit to 1333MHz Hope this help Sincerly yours
milkyjoe01
Yes, mine is the 2670QM 2nd Gen. SB. i7. 1. If i install the 1600mhz Vengeance kit wont it just run at 1333mhz but with tighter timings less than the stated 9-9-9-24T, 8-8-8-21T for example? 2. Also, what about the 1.35v & 1.5v question. Surely its a better option to go for the 1.35v kits if there's no performance gain or other advantage in using the 1.5v, so why aren't all kits 1.35v as it seems like they use less voltage so its cooler & better for power consumption? milkyjoe01
I have 4gb & it's not very quick. I've read that upgrading to 8gb on the XPS 502x makes a noticeable difference & I would like to know if I'm going to have compatibility issues with it. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 27, 2012 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 27, 2012 Please look up your system on our memory configurator for the correct memory. If your system is not listed I would suggest using the memory that was suggested by the system manufacturer.
milkyjoe01
My laptop XPS L502x isn't in the list but in your email to me on 22/2/2012 at 22:43 you recommended the CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9 kit so with this in mind I was hoping that the Vengeance CMSX8GX3M2A1600C9 would be compatible. Do you have a rough estimate as to the timings if ran at 1333mhz. I still haven't found out what the advantages/disadvantages of 1.35v kits & 1.5v kits. I would just like as much info as possible before upgrading my RAM.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 27, 2012 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 27, 2012 Some systems require 1.35 memory and some may be compatible with either module. But that is up to your system. I would suggest you contact the system manufacturer and get a module that they suggest. Or try to find out the exact specification they require and do your best to match it. However if your system is not listed on our memory configurator there is not a lot wee can do if the modules do not work.
