new CPU and h100

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if there are any recommendations in process of replacing CPU?

I mean after removing h100 pump and getting in new CPU, what to do with thermal paste? To clean up everything from h100 and apply another paste, and if there are any recommended brands?

There are numerous reviews on efficacy of different TIMs...most vary 2-3C in temps. Arctic Silver 5 works OK but is not necessarily the "best" brand. Several of my colleagues have been using a thin coat on the CPU and a thin coat on the cooler successfully. Upon removal the TIM is very even and smooth looking AND covers the surfaces completely. After a few hours it helps to see if any additional space of the interface can be reduced by "gently" tightening the hold down screws.
