sirmoe
Hi Guys, I took apart my entire pc today in an effort to fit the Corsair H70 Core edition to my Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3 board (1155). Surprise surprise, it doesn't actually fit! Check this out, http://counterstrikezone.com/corsair.JPG I'm unable to put the block into the retention ring, it hits the solid caps. Am I doing something wrong?
parsec
It doesn't look like you're doing anything wrong. Even if the tabs didn't touch the capacitors, the rest of the pump would. What is a bit weird is, see the white lines around the CPU socket? A semi-circle on the left side, and lines around the cooler mounting points, etc? Those look like lines defining what Intel calls the "Keep-Out zone", an area around the CPU where nothing is supposed to be located, for various reasons. There is also a height above the board spec, so those caps quite likely meet the spec, but they are still very close. That spec is nothing new, and board manufactures are aware of it, so it would be pretty dumb to ignore it. It looks like you are out of luck, unless someone can suggest something. :dunno:
Kl2amer
turn it 90 degrees. eliminates the issue with the caps being to close.
parsec
turn it 90 degrees. eliminates the issue with the caps being to close. Unfortunately, that won't work on a H70 or H50. The pump and mounting system are different than the H60, H80, and H100 coolers, where that is a method of solving that issue.
