CM2X2048-6400C4DHX: Memory Errors, My Timings Ok?

Recommended Posts

Specs: Biostar TP43D2-A7 Motherboard, Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz

2 sticks of CM2X2048-6400C4DHX (2GB each) - bought as 4GB kit.

Various errors in MemTest86 and Win Mem Diag. Errors occur on both sticks individually, and a great deal more errors occur when in dual channel. MemTest errors in Test 5, 7, 8

After many failed attempts at manual timings (and having to clear the BIOS to get it to boot again each attempt), I finally was able to boot up with these settings:

From the BIOS:

DRAM Freq: DDR2 800Mhz

Voltage: Memory Overvoltage +0.3V (voltage reads at 2.064 with this setting)

Static tREAD Value (PL): Auto (changing this to 2T, as I saw suggested elsewhere caused the system to fail to boot)

tCL: 4

tRP: 4

tRCD: 4

tRAS: 12

tRFC: 55

Other threads I have seen these settings were suggested to be "Auto", but on this board, there isn't an auto option listed when changing the timings individually.

tWR: 4

tWTR: 4

tRRD: 4

tRTP: 4

SPD puts the memory at 5-5-5-18, but the errors occur under those settings as well.

Let me know what you guys think. Bad sticks or bad settings?

Thanks for the reply.

I have tried testing the sticks 1 at a time, both with the manual timings I specified, and the SPD timings (which are different). I received some form of error on all different variations, although the number of errors were greater by far when both sticks were used in dual channel.
