Dark Regent
The fan in my 3 year old HX1000 power supply has started dying. It's been making some nasty noises starting yesterday. At first I thought something might be hitting the fan but no. I also noted that laying the case on it's side eliminated the problem. It appears that the fan is just shot. I'm not sure whether this is covered under warranty at this point. If it is, is it possible to just receive a new fan or does the power supply have to be sent in. That seems like a hassle just to swap out a fan. What can Corsair do for me?
Wired
Ask for an advanced RMA (for the whole PSU). That way you have no down time.
Dark Regent
With an advanced RMA, what happens if they receive the power supply and decide the problem is not covered by the warranty? Do I then get my original power supply back and get to pay for the one Corsair sends me? It may be a dumb question but I'd hate to waste a HX1000 just because of a fan, I'd want it back.
