ricky72191
I have tried 4 times to install Win 7 64bit on my HP DV7-1285dx laptop that had Vista 64 bit factory installed. BIOS still says installed OS is Vista. Very disappointed with this drive. This is my 1st SSD.
demonofelru
AFAIK the BIOS shouldn't know at all what OS is installed, maybe you mean the bootloader? What error did it give you if any? When clicking the start button then right click my computer then properties does it say it is in fact still Vista?
Wired
First, there's no such thing as a Force 3 GT SSD. Do you mean Force GT? Also, demon's correct. Please elaborate as to why you think it still has Vista on it?
ricky72191
Sorry it's a Force Series GT 180GB SATA Drive. If I go into the Bios, on the 1st tab it shows Vista as the "installed" OS no matter what drive is attached.
Yellowbeard
The BIOS is not, and cannot be aware of what OS is installed. Ignore this. When your boot up, and the OS loads, what OS loads up?

Are you using a retail disk to install Windows 7? How far in the process did you get? Did you remember to setup the BIOS to boot from DVD also are you doing a clean install, or upgrade? One thing it also might be is some kind of recovery partition the OEMs add showing on the bootloader since as said the BIOS shouldn't mention OS unless maybe the splash screen says made for Windows Vista or something? Wired
Do you have 2 drives in the laptop (HDD and SSD)?
ricky72191
Only 1 drive is installed- the 180GB SSD. Windows 7 RTM disk. The last time I tried the install it "Blue Screened" on me. Then I shut it down for the night.
Toasted
There shouldn't be any bootloader since most of that is stored in the OEM HD in the "RECOVERY" partition. Browse around the BIOS and see if there is anything that might be conflicting with the install.
