MagnusT
I've checked your compatibility chart for my MB a Gigabyte GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3 and both these are listed as supported: CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 16GB (4x4GB) CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10 8GB I originally bought the 4x4 kit but today I brought home 2 pcs of the 8GB sticks to upgrade with. The MB only has four DIMM slots so I took out two of the 4GB sticks and inserted two 8GB sticks in their place. So in total: Slot1 8GB Slot2 4GB Slot3 8GB Slot4 4GB since the MB manual states: Channel A: DDR3_2, DDR3_4 Channel B: DDR3_1, DDR3_3 With 4x4GB sticks = boots ok With 2x8GB sticks only = boots ok But with the above described 2x4GB + 2x8GB = the MB starts up but after just a few seconds it reboots, starts up a few seconds and the reboots, and so on in an endless fashion. No error beeps. Any idea what to do? heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp! :-)
Synthohol
sell or return one kit. a lot of people assume they can mix kits, the compatibility chart is for 1 single kit only not even 2 of the same part# read the links below about mixing ram, im off to a funeral for a panda ;)
MagnusT
Yeah, I started to understand it was a can of worms I opened. But I continued fiddling with everything and with this setup everything works perfectly: Slot1 4GB Slot2 8GB Slot3 4GB Slot4 8GB Logical? Naaaaaahhhhhh..... Something with bus loads? Who knows.... Synthohol
buy a lottery ticket, you are one of the lucky few to actually make it work. i would say out of 500 threads like yours maybe 10 or 20 have been as lucky. i guess the panda was just in a coma after all :):
