Carmine
I placed the motherboard into the case and 8 of the 9 ATX motherboard screws went in without a problem. The last screw would not start and I tried several others and none would start, but worked in the other holes just fine. The hole appears to be drilled straight, but I am not sure what type of thread the female threads are? It appears they could #6-32 or M3 x0.5. If I can determine what the original threads were, I can buy a tap and chase the threads. The hole in question on the 500R case, is the center hole, located at the top of the case. Can anyone suggest a solution, without sending the case in?
peanutz94
Just take it with you to the hardware store or home improvement store. They usually have a thread pitch gauge that can identify them pretty quick. Sorrry i do not know the size off hand, but that is what i would do. bryant guy
Better if you can find a thread cutting screw you won't need a tap!
Carmine
For anyone with a 500R case, the ATX motherboard stand off threads, are #6-32 size. Picked up a tap and chased the threads and all is well.
1nsane
Your probably using the wrong screws. I thought my 500r had this issue, but after some time I realized i was using the wrong screws. The screws you need look typical, imo.
