jpmxch
Hey guys, Just got my first ssd and I'm in need of help lol So i unplugged my 2hds and plugged in the ssd. I turned on AHCI and set the primary boot to disc. I start up my windows 7(upgrade version) and it proceeds to the install wizard. This is where I'm stuck at. I click install now and then custom for a new copy of windows. I choose disk 0 partition 1 83.8gb, which is the Force and after hitting next it says "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information." Not sure what to do now  Any help would be appreciated!
jpmxch
Bah.. I fixed it I think. I didn't unplug my external hd so it was showing up with the Force under the partitions. Not sure why that prevented it from working though.
jpmxch
How do i check which firmware the ssd is running? Sorry for being a ssd noob.
jpmxch
So i've been using the SSD for a few hours now and it's awesome. Do these speeds look accurate for a Sata II motherboard? I thought I would be getting at least 250mb/s read and write. http://i42.tinypic.com/dmtsw2.jpg
madnisman
Hi, you can check drive's firmware with CrystalDiskInfo. Please use ATTO for benchmarking and post results here.
jpmxch
Ok CrystalDiskInfo shows the firmware as 1.3.3 I ran ATTO benchmark without changing any of the settings. Heres what I got: http://i41.tinypic.com/2ytu1ao.jpg Looks like 282mb/s read & 244mb/s write which is more accurate?
Wired
You're hitting the read limits of SATA II. Write's a tad low, possibly due to it being the OS drive.
jpmxch
Just curious, what was the reason for the difference in numbers in the CrystalMarkDisk test?
Toasted
ATTO uses compressible data and CrystalDiskMark uses incompressible.
