Dunkers
I have 4x 2Gb CM2X2048-6400C5, two (ver 3.1) of these came with the PC nearly three years ago, two (ver 6.1) added as a pair in September this year. All worked well until a couple of weeks ago when I began getting Blue Screen crashes, which became more and more frequent until the system wouldn't boot at all. I have eventually managed to get the PC up and running again using just one stick, and have since tested all four sticks in all four slots. It seems that TWO of the sticks are causing the BSDs, but it's one from each pair. So at present I am able to run 4Gb RAM but only by using an unmatched pair. I have raised a RMA (2485280) but am unsure how to proceed. Do I need to raise two seperate RMAs and send all four sticks back? Also, any idea why two sticks would go bad together? Motherboard problems, perhaps? Cheers.
Synthohol
can you test each stick one at a time with memtest (link on left) disable legacy usb when testing and clear the bios to defaults before each test. mixing 2 sets of ram is not supported even if it worked for a year.(especially different versions!) see the links below in my sig. please test one at a time before RMA to see if it is indeed a ram issue or a compatibility issue from running 2 kits. either way i suggest reading to two links below and perform the proper test procedure. thanks. Thanks for the reply. I've done the tests, as you suggested, running each stick in each slot with Memtest 4.2. The results are: Original Kit: 1st stick - no errors in any slot. Passed. 2nd stick - loads of errors in all slots. Failed. New Kit: 1st stick - no errors in any slot. Passed. 2nd stick - wouldn't boot up memtest (or the PC) in any of the slots. Dead? When I purchased the 2nd kit I did so after consulting 'AN806: Memory Upgrade Resource Guide' and the one I got was as close to the original as I could get. The only differences written on the sticks (which wasn't apparent when I placed the order) is that the original is 1.90v, ver 3.1, -6400C5 and the new kit 1.80v, ver 6.1, -6400C5C. What now, and am I likely to have screwed up my motherboard by using these? Cheers.
Synthohol
i would start 2 RMAs or call customer service and see what option they can come up with for you. also any compatibility chart lists single kits, its an assumption that 2 of the same kits are equally approved, sadly this is not the case. call Corsair cust svc and see what they can do for you.
