swinchen
Hi, I purchased an H60 from Amazon and had to return it because there was air in the line. You could actually shake the radiator and hear the liquid sloshing around. I did not return to corsair because I would have to pay return shipping which I do not find fair seeing the product was defective. When installing the replacement I discovered that the screw holes on the bottom (where the lines come out) of the radiator did not line up with the fan I fought with it for and hour and am currently only using two screws to hold it onto the case. I am incredibly displeased with the quality control and am very close to returning this unit as well and going with a different brand.
beekermartin
There is suppose to be air in the lines. The h series coolers are closed loop. Meaning there is no room for air to escape like a true water cooling setup. They leave some air in the system to allow for expansion as the fluid changes temperature. In terms of the screws lining up. I found that just starting the screws a few turns before you tighten them fully should allow you enough room to line all 4 up. It was tricky for me the first time I installed the h60. After removing it many times trying different fans I have gotten very good at installing it. swinchen
There is enough air in the system that the pump is considerably louder than the 3 fans at 1000 rpm. Now that I have this new unit that has the mounting problem I know what the pump should sound like... very quiet. I have attempted to get the final two screws in numerous times. It has worn the paint off the radiator, and it looks like the bottom two mounting holes are off by 1/8 of an inch. I am just incredibly disheartened and frustrated with this product. parsec
swinchen, all of that is not good. My two H60s do not have misaligned fan mounting screw holes on the radiators, so your experience is not normal. Both of the pumps on my H60s are quiet, but pump noise is a fairly common complaint. It seems that in some cases the factory is pushing these things through to quickly, or new, inexperienced workers are being used.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 19, 2011 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 19, 2011 Have you tried screwing the fan on a diagonal patter? just to make sure that you secure both screws on opposite sides first then the other 2 should line up. swinchen
Yes, that is how I initially tried installing it... top right, followed by bottom left. In order to get the bottom screw in I had to turn the fan (about the first screw), this created a noticeable air gap between the radiator and the fan because the fan was now "crooked". Qualitatively it seems to make a better seal with just the top two screws.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 19, 2011 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 19, 2011 Quite odd, something that we don't see everyday. It sounds like the radiator fan holes are not aligned. If want to get it replaced then please submit an RMA. How is your temp though?
swinchen
I will probably just return it to Amazon so I won't have to pay return shipping which would be about a quarter of the cost of the H60. The temperatures are a few degrees warmer than the unit that had the air in the system, but overall not bad. With stock speeds on a 2500k I am getting to about 50C/55C loaded. I am more worried about moving the computer with only the two screws holding the radiator/fan setup on the back of the case.

FWIW, the radiator and fan are not very heavy, I doubt highly that they would fall off their mounting if you move the PC.
